Update:

When I first contacted customer service they indicated they wanted to do the right thing and also their management didn’t like people having poor experiences. They would check with management about what they could do for me (either discount this guitar or perhaps a discount on another mod shop. It’s an expensive guitar and I own a lot of gibsons so I appreciated the consideration.

Gibson has offered to refund me or…5% off another guitar that’s 2,000 more than the one I purchased. I explained that paying significantly more for my second choice guitar isn’t a great alternative. I would’ve expected more. While I realize I’m not entitled to any discount at all, it’s just such a low number that it comes across poorly after it seemed like they would do more. Disappointing experience and response from Gibson.

Hey all,

Just wanted to share. I bought a Gibson mod shop guitar and Gibson shipped directly to me. No one packs a Gibson worse than Gibson. The case has a small piece of bubble wrap in the box but the guitar was flopping around like a limp dick.

Opened it up and saw this. This is a new and unique shipping injury for me. You can see the indent in the inside of the case where it took a whack. I opened the control plate and that fucker is definitely inverted with heavy concaving. Even worse…the guitar is probably the best playing traditional LPC I’ve played haha

God damn, sorry dude. It's so frustrating, it just seems like they go out of their way to slam the shit out of anything and everything. That kind of damage would probably require a drop from head height, if not more. Last time I shipped a guitar, they put a fork lift straight through the hard case. Full penetration. I'm over this bullshit.

It’s definitely annoying. I might take it to my luthier and see if Gibson will heavily discount it. But since it’s a bare wood finish with a matte clear there’s no hiding any imperfections

Man that sucks!!!

I'm sure you'll get a refund provided the customer service team at Gibson doesn't turn up any angry or condescending remarks directed towards Mark Agnesi. Playing authentic isn't always all roses I guess.

It's fucked but if you really feel like it rips, fuck it man.

So I was sweating everyday for a week waiting for my amp to come home in one piece from California to Connecticut UPS style  and it did.

Too bad for you! Man, I feel really bad but if you weren't bonded to it like I was with my amp, one bright side is that it will be replaced.

I would make a ridiculous offer to Gibson to keep it. Like a 75% refund.

For sure. But for that kind of money it should play great regardless. Fuck Gibson.
Right The lack of care across the board is definitely the piss off factor. The standard packing materials Gibson uses to ship were almost all absent here. It also looks like it was either dropped from a great height or something heavy dropped right on the side of the box and caved the front in. That also shows the lack of care by UPS. Even marginally more care would’ve avoided this.
