I remember the name Freefall but I don't remember the band...not sure if I ever saw them.
Hybrid Ice! Used to see them a lot...they're actually playing again. Their guitarist had cowriting credits on Boston's mid-80's album IIRC.
Anybody remember Defiance and/or Bashful?[/quo

This is a trip down memory lane, Hybrid ice, Freefall, Arc Angel, Harpo wow those were the days. We took it for granite back then but now I wish there were bands like them around now. I still talk to Frankie the drummer of Arc Angel and he misses those days. Did any of you guys ever get up to the Staircase in Pittston to see a show, these bands used to play weekly there.

Loved Dirty Looks. Same with Wrathchild America and Child's Play. As long as we're talking about PA, how about Heaven's Edge? Wasn't Britny Fox a Philly band too? Cinderella?

i've never been to Pittston.when i seen Arc Angel,A.J. Pero from twisted sister was their drummer.

Heaven's Edge,i'm not familiar with at all.BF and Cinderella were indeed Philly bands.i didn't see Cinderella til they opened for Bon Jovi in Hershey.

Heaven's Edge was an excellent band. If you like 80's stuff, they are a must have IMO.

Wow! Alot of familiar names growing up in Rochester NY and going to college in Lewisburg, PA. Hybrid Ice, Harpo, Dirty Looks. Anyone remember Icewater Mansion?

RIP, Henrik. Saw you many times in Rochester. Playing Cool from the Wire right now....

Damn...Henrik would be proud of the memories his memorial thread is stirring up

I do remember Ice Water Mansion...never would have thought of them though without having them brought up.

Heaven's Edge actually got signed to a major...cool band. Reggie Wu is the first guy I ever saw play a 7 string...he was endorsed by Ibanez and got one of the first Universe models.

Britney Fox was a Philly band but they didn't play the normal PA circuit. When I was playing that area ('90-'93) their guitar player used to be out at the clubs all the time. Their drummer auditioned for a project that I joined not long before I left town. He was good but the whole thing fell apart before it really got started.

Cinderella was before my time in the clubs, but there was still a ton of their promotional stuff stored upstairs in the Galaxy. Whenever we gigged there we always went looking for souvineers

They weren't metal but do any of you guys remember the Badlees? How about the Sharks (the band Poison stole the Talk Dirty to Me riff from)?

i know the Badlee's.very popular.i just read about a new project by one of the members.i'll get back with you on that.one guy has a studio.i'm pretty sure its called Saturation Acres.

the Sharks, thats Shea Quinn's old band right?he has a new project to i think.he was out of it for awhile after he got jumped after a show.

heres one,and i'm sure if Henrik were here he'd know this band...Youth In Asia.

no love for Youth In Asia?
I remember seeing them in PA Musician but I don't recall ever crossing paths with them in the clubs.

Remember Red Baron? That was Chris Silvagni's band before he replaced John Hahn in Harpo.

hmmm.never heard of Red Baron.

the guitarist in YIA was my first teacher.and i was his first student.he still teaches for a living and has a studio.

double a productions

Born and raised in central PA. Man this thread is something. Opened several shows with Spectres aka Paris aka Poison several times back in the early 80s. Brett and Rikki were hands-down the coolest guys you'd ever want to meet back then. I remember a particular show in the middle of a winter snowstorm in some dive in Gettysburg. Nobody in the place except our two bands and the staff. Our crappy teenage cover band hit the stage to start the night and those two stayed right at the edge of the stage and cheered us on in support for our entire set. I couldn't freaking believe it. And they absolutely did steal the Talk Dirty riff from the Sharks' song "Take Me Back to the Water" (I think it was). I'm sure the Sharks stole it from somewhere before that. Cheap Trick's "She's Tight" maybe? :D

Kix played our high school auditorium right after their first album came out and completely blew everyone away. This had to be '81 or '82. They crammed every bit of production they could on that stage. Saw them many times after that and nobody could touch them. That first album is still one of my favorites, killer songs and production. Folks that only know "Don't Close Your Eyes" or "Blow My Fuse" are truly missing out.

Loved Hybrid Ice, what a fantastic band! Saw the Sharks every time they played the Metron, Teeze, and I think there was a pretty popular band back then called the Backstreet Kids or something like that. Pre Backstreet Boys, and actually had some talent. LOL

Dirty Looks hit it big a little bit after I left the area (USAF), but I finally heard them years later and quickly got myself up-to-speed.

very cool.

Rupe from the west, you from central and myself from the east.gaining lotsa ground on this state.your obviously coming from an early 80s refernece point.i started following PA scene in mid 80s.i missed the impact of the Sharks.Paris was before my time and never got into Poison.

i remember seeing Kix for the first time on a show on the USA network called Night Flight.came on fri and sat nights.(pre-dating rhonda shears up all night show.)i look on youtube for clips from that but never found any.

Backstreet kids.i have no recollection.

i do remember a band called Backstreet Law.i never actually seen them, but am familiar w/ their adds in PA musician.i can't remember what years they were playing.

i'm also thinking of a band with MICKEY in the title.Easy Mickey maybe.i can't remember.i never seen them but was intrigued by them in my late teen yrs.they now evolved into the Martini Bros. and i have no idea what they sound like.

I grew up in Camp Hill. And you're right, it was Easy Mickey. After I moved out of the area, my brother went on to play drums with them. I think he was one of a few they had. Man, I didn't know they were that far-reaching. Easy Mickey's singer, Mike Moppin, designed one of Kix' album covers ("Show Business" I think). I'm not sure who all else was in EM, but the two brothers in the Martini Bros. are Ace and Deuce. I think one of them was in EM. Both were huge into the rockabilly thing and the only time I ever caught the band, they struck me as a much more snottier, punkier version of the Stray Cats. And the Stray Cats comparison was more about how those two looked. The music was much more early Social Distortion-ish...at least the one time I caught them. Are they still around?
