Oh absolutely. Go over to TGP for another activity—buying gear so you can take artsy pics of it posed around your couch.

At least RT’ers actually play the guitar

So true. I'll admit, it annoys me to see so much gear gathering dust on RT but then I remember TGP (and some of the pictures of "collections") and have a stroke

In 15 years of TGP i never once found someone who wanted to collaborate on something musically - in 4-5 years of RT i've played music with tons of people

My dad was a bass player and bought me my first bass when I was 8. You think guitar players obsess about tone. I can't count the rigs I went through in my life.

Nah I know. Plus, I know how much those warwicks and ricks and shit like that costs.

To be fair, most nice bass amps aren't THAT ridiculous in comparison to the guitar stuff - but good lord, a nice bass is like 3 times what a nice guitar costs

Guessing part of it is that they probably sit for sale 3x longer?

I don't know. I've been offered enough to buy a nice old Les Paul for my 4001. And I paid about $2500 with the case for the Spector. I got pretty good deals on all my SVTs and 810s. Most of them are long gone now that I'm not a working musician anymore. I did keep my late 80s SVT II non pro and a beat to piss '96 810cl with zero tolex and "Eat Shit" stenciled on the grill cloth ( grill is held on with 2 wood screws). Dark era drivers in that one and it sounds fucking amazing. Got a few Fender American Deluxe Jazz basses that ran between $1000 and $1500 depending on when I bought them and what appointments they have. Several short scale Fenders and I lost count how many P basses I gave away to broke ass kids around the neighborhood. I got one of the old Peavey Dyna Basses that looks like absolute hell, but sounds fucking awesome. Think I gave about $300 for it maybe 30 years ago.

I just finished my bass pedalboard.
