I was messing around with my new recording system trying to get everything up and running and decided to record my modded PeaceMaker real quick... Didn't mess with settings or anything, what you hear is how my amp was set when I walked into my studio. Excuse the crap playing - I just recorded this short snippet to make sure my recording system was working...

This was at BEDROOM volume! I had to crank my mic pre to get enough signal to my recording system the amp was set so low. I had the amp modded to have a 2203 preamp section. The amp also has two masters now - 2203 master and a PPIMV. I have the 2203 master @ 6 and the PPIMV barely on...

Anyway... here ya go... I know at least my buddy Pat (mentoneman) wanted to hear it:

Great playing! I have always been intrigued by the Mojave amps. Great plexi type tone! Good job, Steve!

I have heard that these amps sound bad at high volume.

Thanks man, I appreciate the comments.

On the amp - actually, the only way to get a good distorted tone out of a stock PeaceMaker is ridiculously loud. If you go to my musicv2 page in the link in my sig, most of the PM clips there were recorded ungodly loud - completely cranked with no attenuation... The stock amp has no master, just this power dampening thing, which, even if you turn it full "dampening" it is still loud. That is the main reason I got mine modded - I wanted a bit more fire and I also wanted to get the basic tone of the amp at low volumes for easy recording...

and no tapping

that was like a bigfoot sighting! or a gainfreak vid!

Have you tried the peacemaker with a BB Preamp? That might kick ass!

28 seconds I can handle without tapping... but my right hand was itching to get up to the 12th fret! :D

... and Pat - one of the main reasons I modded my PM was for better volume control. Now I'm hoping I don't have to crank it up to get good tone...

I think you can tell that the mods didn't change the overall tonal characteristics of the amp. I does have a bit more gainy feel/fire in the room which works for me...

I haven't, but I've tried every other way of boosting it under the sun and I just find I like the way it sounds unboosted best... I'll take a look at the BB though...

That sounds great!!!

Cool - I'm going to do a lot more clips of it now that I have my recording rig operational. Your clips kinda kicked me in the ass to do this because they sound awesome even through a video camera...

Hey - at least you can find them reasonably cheap now used... People have trouble selling them at $1500..

Thanks for the comments on the clips, man - If I see a PM around for that price I'll let you know...

Oh...btw - this was recorded with a Suhr Aldrich bridge pickup... Super high output, but very clear... I bet a lot of people wouldn't have guessed that...

I think I'll do one with my Kramer that has a low output Mojave bridge hum in it. That guitar is also in E flat so it sounds a bit meaner...

Who did the mod to your PM?

A guy named Carl who is a friend of Curt's (Chubtone). He did an incredible job...
