Show me what you’re building

The spalted maple one looks awesome. How do you plan to finish it?
The plan is to keep it natural and just put a clearcoat on top. Before the clearcoat i guess i will have to also add some epoxy to stabilize the top a bit, as mentioned its quite soft.
As both the neck and the body wings on the spalted maple kelly are black limba it also is a additional reason to keep it natural since also black limba is a great looking wood.

Just recently finished this. Body and neck from Precision Guitar Kits, both black limba. Fastened with hide glue, and finished with French polished shellac. Very resonant and plays and sounds great with a thick, rich growly tone.
Great looking V.
Before doing my first "from scratch" build i did a kit guitar to get my feet wet with building guitars and bought a Les Paul Kit from Precision Guitar Kits. Quality was awesome and it was a great experience. Can absolutely recommend them.

Those sg faded models are hidden gems. I love mine.
Got mine back when the prices were still good for $500. Put a little love into it, and bam, perfection.

I want someone to carve into mine, like a relief carving. I don't have the guts.
That's about what I'm into this one for including a brand new SG hardshell case, it was hard to say no to, local sale delivered to me, easy deal. Felt great and played great when I got, it was just sort fugly hahaha , so I know the bones are good. I got another headstock overlay for it, gonna get the body cleaned up and sprayed, off to the races! Might even go with just a single bridge bucker ala Phil X

Jeff Kollman is swearing by his stock $560 SG faded, if it works for him :-)

Mine had a case too! Killer!🤘

Yeah, I try to stop playing it, but it just feels like home. I am not a huge binding fan anyway, so it was perfect. I prefer the brown over the red too.

Look forward to seeing what you come up with!🤘I changed the nut, saddle pieces and all the electronics, and installed a cap and resistor series treble bleed....it is seriously amazing to play.

Thanks ID, yours look killer as well.
Yes, I had a great experience with them as well and highly recommend them. The quality is excellent, the neck pocket fit tight, and the frets only required the slightest leveling.

That is so cool. I had no idea there were guitar kits out there for anything other than bolt ones. So, did you have it completed by a local tech/luthier? I’d assume one would need special tools to affix the neck properly like clamps, etc.

That’s what I have left of one 50+ year old American chestnut. It’s been dead for a few years and standing with no bark. It leaned onto my building this winter and me, my son, neighbor and granddaughter (she supervised everything) brought it down. That piece is almost 7’ long. I have an esp Strat head neck and just need a body cut out of this and I’m ready. American chestnut is pretty much extinct so it’s not like there’s a lot of guitar’s made out of it. I just want to do this because my grandfather planted them when I was born.
