All the Friedman's with switching will have 12vdc heaters. The models with no switching usually just have elevated heaters. Although that might have changed. Either way, I can't tell a difference. I think the only time it would really make a difference is if everything (including preamp tubes) is tightly packed on a PCB

FourT6and2 Well-known member Jul 17, 2023 #43 Hiss isn't to do with heaters. Hiss is thermal noise (and gain). To reduce thermal noise, you have to use the right kinds of components and appropriate values in some key locations.
