I have the Epiphone '79 AJ, probably the best epiphone I've ever played, sounds great too. Still feels like an epiphone at the end of the day compared to my Gibsons, but the gap is much smaller. They look really good. Local GC has a Gibson LPC and the Epiphone 1979 AJ sig, and the Epiphone just looks better on the wall IMHO. Not sure how well it plays. New Gibsons are nice but the frets have gotten pretty small and the prices went the other way.
Sweet epis! Also loving that PRS silver sky on the right too!Love my Epis. Got a Firebird and a Nighthawk, both great playing/sounding guitars. The Firebird came with Duncan Antiquity pickups. I just had my tech install the Goldo trem that's on it. Stays in tune surprisingly well!

I'd just throw a 1000 Series on it. Those Specials are garbage. It blows my mind that Jackson uses those on the Pro Series Broderick. That was always the deal-breaker in trying one. The older white one is tits!I have two Ibanez PS10 (Prestige MIJ) and they are by far the best made, flawless guitars I've ever owned followed closely by EBMM.
I have three Jackson X series Rhoads, I think made in Indonesia, with Duncan pickups, the weakest part is the FR Special but so far I've had only one issue on one where the G-string insert block wasn't holding; I plan to replace these with steel or titanium blocks eventually.
The white Custom is pretty sweet looking. With USA pickups, it's not a bad deal, especially on the used market. I'd probably upgrade the hardware, but I do that to USA's too. I was just always leery of fretwork from China. Seems like they're doing something right.I cna honestly say, as someon who has been using the Epi Adam Jones 1979 since it was released as my primary guitar....it's an excellent instrument.
Literally zero issues with mine. Fit and finish are great. Obviously neck profile is subjective but I really love the neck on the guitar. When compring to other guitars with a DD6 in the bridge, I often find myself preferring the tone of the Epi. ould be the individual pickups, electronics, etc, but it just seems to have a little bit of a top end clarity that the others lack.
I have been a Gibson guy for years, only buying Epis when I get them as fun projects for next to nothing (I have 4 other epis in my stable, paid less than $250 for all of them, with cases) but this new model really has me looking a lot harder at their new relases.
If they redo the Jerry Cantrell Wino model with the new treatments, I will snag that in a heartbeat
Only time I've heard "docking" mentioned was in relation to a gay sex act. If there's another type (besides spacecraft), it eludes this old fart as well.I’m old. I don’t know what that means.
hehe...no PRS here. I live near the factory, have owned a bunch of different ones over the years (including a VERY early SE from the original factory) and never cared for any of them. They never stayed around long. The guitar on the right is a Fender '57 Road Worn Strat.Sweet epis! Also loving that PRS silver sky on the right too!
Well I’m not mad that I didn’t know what it meant.Only time I've heard "docking" mentioned was in relation to a gay sex act. If there's another type (besides spacecraft), it eludes this old fart as well.
I’m puzzled. Why this comment?Do you space dock with other Eiphone owners?
Similar to barebacking?Only time I've heard "docking" mentioned was in relation to a gay sex act. If there's another type (besides spacecraft), it eludes this old fart as well.

Just busting ballsI’m puzzled. Why this comment?
The Gibson Custom version is nearly 4.5X the price; the Epi was $1499 vs the Gibson $6,699. I also got 15% off.I have the latest version of the 1979 AJ custom and it is fantastic, was great right out of the box and the case is nice too. You can get them for a little over 1100 a lot of places to me it’s actually a great guitar for the money. I have owned 5 Gibson LPCs and this guitar is every bit the player of any of them, if not better than a couple of them.
