DR pure blues... if you don't kill strings with the acid of doom, just plain buttery smooth.

....Oh yeah, the pure nickel wrap wears down the frets slower too.

i play since nearly 15 yars Dean Markley 10-46, on my baritone 10-52. From time to time i buy a set from different manufacturers -but always i come back to Dean Markley strings...
a f*** nightmare was a set from "Pyramid"

Ernie Ball - Not Even Slinky... (12-56 - if i can remember...)

I had no idea this much people used Dean markley. I use them too.
10-46. but i think i'll upgrade the gauge.
What's the best gauge for Drop-d?

For an 8-stringer it is a bit more difficult to find suitable strings (the 8th is 0.84) so for 8-string I prefer Nickel wound Newtone Strings. Either round core or hexagonal core depending on the guitar and its individual tonal and constructional characteristics.

Just out of curiosity; do you have a bass player? What does the bass player use?

Our bass player does not tune down to F# so it is not an issue here. If he would I think we would arrange a long scale bass (35") and equip it with a wire of 180 or something. :D

I prefer DR Tite-fit with round core.
I put 9s on Strats and 10 s on LPs with standard tuning.

Dean Markley 10-60 on my /string guitars.
Altough i'm trying different strings all the time, i finally end up @ dean markley every time again.

and the blue steel 10-52 on my 6string.

Ernie Ball .009 set. (The pink pack) I prefer the Nickel version over the steel ones, though not enough to resort to buying them in bulk, as the music stores around here don't stock them.

I'm using Thomastik Infeld Power brights 10-45. I love those strings, their tone is a bit rounder than typical steel strings, but still bright enough to cut through. Plus, they wear great. They do cost twice as much as daddarios but they last twice as long.
When you put them on your guitar for the first time, you think you have gold strings. I think they are brass plated, so they have this shimmering gold look...
Also I noticed that they bend perfectly, sometimes it feels like having 9-42 on it;-)
Awesome strings!!!

d addario .012-.054 on my ESP MIII (tuned in Db) and .010-.052 on my les paul (tuned in E). i'll get a USA standard strat from a board member soon - not sure yet, which strings i'll use for this one.

I am both blessed and cursed at the same time.
I use Ernie Ball and D Adario 8's because i have chronic BAD tendonitis.
Lucky to be able to play and enjoy it so much but cursed to have almost constant pain when i play for extended periods of time or with heavier strings. Since ive used 8's ive learned to play more accurately and with a lighter touch. Ive also learned to compensate for tonal loss in the eqing of mids and with proper pickup choice.
I dont want to use them but its a double whammy :aww:
Tendonitis is the thorn in my flesh

I must say though that ive had it since i was 17, and believe it to even be a miracle that i can play and even at times not even feel pain.

i'm using elixir nanoweb 10-46.

cool they stay bright so long...the only thing that i don't like about anty rust strings it's they slip too much from the tips of your fingers.

Ernie Ball Power Slinky 11-48 (tuned to Eb), tried many different strings but always came back

Rob i had no idea!! you now my friend are my new hero  a true inspiration to me, anytime i see a musician overcome a handicap im humbled, much less one who plays and sounds as clean as you! now i really i have to hit the woodshed  , i think if you didnt have chronic tendonitus it would be unfair to the rest of us! You Rock

For those of you who use elixirs; do they have tighter feel compared to dadarrios?
