Yeah that's him.

He accused me, medic, japetus, racer, and Dave of "cyberstalking" him because apparently we've all had the temerity to disagree with him in the past couple months on random posts.

He's been super opinionated about shit, which is honestly fine - but rubbed me and others the wrong way with his "I know everything" attitude.

Well, he posted some clips of his recordings, and he's obviously a beginner (which is also totally fine) but pretty incongruous with his Rig Talk "persona" of being the all knowing, all seeing, all powerful, scientific home guitar recording guru/Kung Fu master.

Hilarity and jokes ensued, and he got BIG mad.

That's what I get for reading a thread backward I do that sometimes when I see a high post count so I can determine quickly if the thread has devolved into something other than the title/OP's intent. In this case it looks like it did but is STILL on topic

I missed the clips and they now appear to be removed. If his ranting was strictly in regard to that then he is off his rocker. I'm not a very good guitarist either admittedly, but if you told me my clips or my my tone sucked - I'd believe you and use it as an opportunity to improve .

I hope no one was stalking his family or whatever that was about as that is pretty uncool.

Like Dan and others have said, we have guys here who are really good players, and others who have made a living recording…so to come here and tout your book and recommendations on ‘how to achieve great recordings using modelers etc’, while arguing with guys who have recorded for years, then post those terrible sounding clips? And, I’m not referring to his playing just the tone-it’s hard to take him seriously.

What I found most perplexing was he cancelled his own work. Was RT the only online community where he peddled his wares? I can’t be bothered to search other forums for ‘Tonedig’. Either way, this place is probably the absolute last to embrace silent/low wattage alternatives. It‘s mainly about high gain 100w amps here. To target this forum with his ‘solutions’ points to a failed, months long trolling attempt. All for what? If he had any smarts at all he’d go for a demographic that wants those kind of recording/ amplifier options. Any newcomer could casually ascertain almost immediately what he’s selling just won’t fly here. His language and syntax were downright bizarre.

Once you start selling your knowledge and expertise, like in a book, your knowledge and expertise are in the public, and fair game for criticism.

No one criticized TTD for anything besides his "knowledge" and "expertise" - at least, until he went full anime villain revenge speech and started threatening me like an angry teenager.

That specifically - his "solutions" and how anathema they are to the general spirit of RT - is a really curious part of this whole thing. And why most of us REALLY thought he was trolling after hearing the first clip or two. But then, there was never a "haha, got you guys, here's my real clip." Just half a dozen more (pretty obvious) Bias presets with way too much time based fx.

With such sweeping generalizations, and religious ferver in his proclamations about home recording, you would think he would know his clips would have to be impressive?

Most agree! I deleted two other vids as this clip captured the true sweet spot. Very simple but effective signal chain causes the PT20 to give up the coveted goods!
By the way was the context of this thread 'YT tone vids', 'Entertainment vids' or 'Bickering and name calling' -asking for a friend!

The insults/critiques were not on him personally, but rather on the knowledge he presented and his recordings and playing. That stuff isn’t personal. It’s valid stuff to criticize. Take a lot at what he said to DanTravis. That’s what personal attacks look like. He had the biggest meltdown I’ve ever seen anywhere and going from a diplomatic guy to the most vulgar one. I don’t think anyone here has hate or mal intent toward him. Just not tolerating info that we feel is incorrect. Yes a bit crude in arguing, but that’s just the style for some on here

I did not realize there was a version without the 3 gain settings like the one I got. Fortunately it has plenty of gain for the tones I want out of it. The previous one I owned I never used the lower gain settings I just roll my volume knob back. All I can figure is mine is an earlier version, but like I said it has plenty on tap especially pushed with an OD level boost.

IMO, perma-banning is a Grey when it comes to members that are so sensitive and making threats. I'd imagine a perma-ban would send that type of person over the edge to actually carry out something stupid. Once you take a toy away from a baby, the baby goes apeshit.

People werent just "pushing" the guy for no reason.

He was selling a snake oil "guitar home recording book," and demonstrated a laughable lack of knowledge in multiple areas where many RT members are as professional or expert as it is possible to be. Then, he shat all over these people when they calmly and politely tried to inform, correct, or complete his knowledge gap.

His insufferable "know it all" attitude over months is what lead to comments like "tone dick," not people being "guitar knowledge" bullies for no reason.

That’s still imo pretty harmless and I doubt what really triggered him. Almost anyone who’s made it though middle school has been through much worse than that. I think he just got too exposed for all his stuff and this meltdown is just his way to cope with it, get it out of his system. Guys get called out very easily on here and that’s just something you gotta accept on RT

I agree, "tone dick" wasn't a good example, but I think I get what @Laurens is trying to say... I just think he's missed a bunch of the "activating event" threads that would explain the missing context for him.

This most certainly did not come out of nowhere, and it did not happen for no reason.
