From BrentSP that used be a member here demo's his SLO: The SLO sounds pretty good for Rock here: He says the trick is keeping the bass 3 or below.

I think part of the supposed problem with the SLO's low end is that if you run a PAF style hb into it, it's always going to be flubby

Running high output hbs with the gain low seems to tame 90% of the flub, which is "tight enough" for most folks

I like it . I use to boost it like a recto and get great tones . And odd ones
Here’s a song I used it on for an odd one
Give me a sub too lol fr

Not gonna lie that sounds amazing.

Personally, I have only played one SLO two different times and was thoroughly unimpressed.

But damn the record tones here are some of the best going. I think for me it's kind of like the whole in the room sound vs real life mix sound should be totally different.

I like too much gain, saturation and the thump in your chest. My favorites are the UU, CL100 and Mark series amps for example.

In the room I felt the SLO lacked in every category. Not enough gain or saturation, did not sound brutal at all and was extremely picky with cabs. Maybe user error because I love the tone in this video quite a bit.

Thanks man. I boosted it with a ts9. Then ran it into a Randall Warhead 4x12 with v30s
The cab is the best I’ve ever heard . It probably helps some
You thinking of trying the amp again ?

No, this guy I used to jam with years ago had one. Probably won't have access to one again. Not something on my radar. It'll be a while but when I can get an amp the only thing I'm gassing for is a wizard or get another Uber ultra. And a crab amp🤣

Go for he wizard. Fuck the haters . The hell razor is a rare amp that is as good as advertised

Have wanted another SLO for a while now and have a blacked out 2004 on the way. Pretty stoked to have one in the arsenal again.

Yeah, it is a dinosaur. But it is one of those amps that made me go "wow" within seconds of playing it. Easily one of the best lead amps and a killer rock machine.

How much gain do some need the SLO has plenty of gain
Idk, it might just be the overall tone or how it sounds gained out for me. Just not good.

The only example I can think of is in Tech deaths video above, all of it sounds incredible until the riff at 1:56. When he does the rung out palm mutes. Squishy, fizzy? Lack of saturation? Idk how you'd describe it but I would choose many other amps for my style of playing over an SLO

I own one built in around 2003 with a warren Haynes and depth mods. It is the most versatile, reliable, and consistent amp I have ever owned. That being said, for any niche town I go for (I chase lots of different vibes) it is never the #1 choice. But usually the #1 choice is a quirky amp with lots of pops, hisses, and generally unusable areas.
