Soldano SLO vs Friedman BE100

I own both, here's a quick demo I did. I rarely play the SLO since I got the Marsha. I play Classic Rock so the Marsha sound is better for what I'm doing. I realy like the Marsha tones when you roll back the guitar volume. The Marsha has a second footswichable volume and gain, and a full clean ch, which is the dealbreaker for me. The SLO is more aggressive and focused, more high mids. The SLO holds together and punches more at high volume, the Marsha has more low end and a tighter low end.

Those clips do a great job of demonstrating these amps...the Marsha is bigger and warmer sounding whereas the SLO is more focused and aggressive. I'm really wanting an SLO now...I think it would compliment my Marsha perfectly.
Any chance of recording something using both amps mixed together?

I have edited my post to keep the peace. I will let the rest of you judge for yourself...

:emofag: :grim:

Mark Kendall was one of Mike Soldano's first clients, this sounds like an SLO to me ^^^^^^^^

Someone show me THE DEFINITIVE SLO tone video. I have flirted with the idea of these, but I havent found a good one on youtube yet.

As for the Be-100. I might be able to help with that,

show me a GOOD slo-100 vid.

I keep telling you you can borrow mine. I have 3. We'll throw different tubes in them and you can have a blast. :)

Working on selling my Hagen. Will probably buy a SLo

Borrow a few of mine first to make sure you love them - but you will. :)

My Protools is not hooked up ATM. Here is something with both, Mostly Marsha, https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11338199 there is some SLO parts, 0:29-0:35 and 0:37-0:39 (octve up from Marsha) then again at 1:27. They kick as mixed as they are sitting in different frequencies. There are some single coil solo parts using the Marsha, I tried them using the SLO, the SLO just doesnt like single coils.

For some SLO tones check out early Allman Bros w/ Warren Haynes, early Gov't Mule.
On Warren Haynes solo album, Tales Of Ordinary Madness, Warren used an SLO w/ the red Strat he sometimes used in the Allman Bros.

Ray Gomez w/ an early SLO using a TS-10 thru the lead ch

I would take a SLO over the HBE simply because I can build myself a HBE, but I can't build an SLO. Those DeYoung trannies really make a difference. Here is my demo of an SLO:

I've seen several SLO builds but I've never seen or heard of anybody copying Dave's BE/Marsha builds...why do you say you could build one and not the other?

Hing played a few Friedman amps, I would take the SLO. Having played the SLO and PWE amps, I would take an Event Horizon over both!

Sick Strat tones. Likely the SLO Crunch ch w/ a Tube Screamer or Gov'nor.

Do I need to remind you of the Port City, Greg Howe debacle Carl? That pretty much would sum up your amp design and manufacturing capabilities.

Again why I listen and buy from Chubtone..........here is his demo of an SLO that he sold to someone here.

I take any chance that I get to post Angus's SLO clip....

I should attempt to demo mine. I got a few options on it as well. Scoop and Warren Haynes mod

Here's an old vid I did comparing different LP's but it a good representation of the SLO (without any weedle weedle. There are many more qualified than I for those videos.:LOL: )

That very SLO right there resides with me...Curt gave me a great deal on it, and it's never going anywhere.

Can't vouch one way or the other WRT the 'which is better old SLO or new SLO' argument, but mine is serial #90302, which = 1990.

And it fawkin' rocks. :D

You SLO guys like your amp with generic MArshall cabs? Curt's demo sounded awesome through that slant Randall 4 x 12 with V30's.
