Soooo… $3499 for the RI Dual Rec?

Maybe SW should hire you for sales, they're sold out now! GC / MF has at least one standard MW in stock still.

Dude don't cha know, tube amps are only for bedroom players now! Gigging musicians only use modelers straight FOH! :ROFLMAO:
Dude if sweetwater reps made accounts here and could message me when something I wanted was in stock that would be very dangerous for my account 😂

I am a little sad to see the MW ending its course. But there are a million of them out there - been around since what? 2010? You should be able to snag one for like 1500 with a little patience. Think I paid 1200 for my last one.

Man, if the C+ RI was in stock I would have had one right away.. and probably returned it by now. :ROFLMAO:

Let me play devil's advocate on the Recto RI for a minute. Pre-covid, clean blackface / chrome Rev Fs were going for ~$3500.

Now let's say the Recto RI nails the Rev F / early small logo G thing. This would be an easier task than the C+ RI getting it right, so it's plausible. It's serial loop and the clip in that other thread sure sounds tight from here.. As tight or tighter than the F-based MW?

Now let's say instead of waiting and hoping for F to pop up and lord knows what asking price, you could buy a new one for the pre-crazy price, in stock, with a warranty.

Which would you choose, and more importantly, why?

The original or the MW. Either would have better resale than the overpriced offering they’re asking - which you will definitely take a bath on given G models are $1800 all day long. Most used RI FG will sell just above or at $2200 just because of the chrome chassis.

The ONLY way I will pay the bloated price they’re asking for new, is if Gibson have completely redesigned the original boards not to have paper thin traces and better component placement than the originals. If it’s no easier to repair or work on, then there’s no reason to justify the additional cost for the amount of money you will lose trying to sell it. It’s the same reason I could never sell my 6505+ since I bought it new - I’d take a bath on it used. The best option of all is to wait for a black edition MW or a used FG reissue to pop up on the used market and between the two, I’d take the black edition MW for gig features alone regardless of board improvements.

I foolishly sold my Rev G to buy a Badlander. I bought into the hype about it being the best dual rectifier, modern, tight, aggressive, no boost needed. That was a lie. I won't believe anymore Mesa Rectifier hype. I wouldn't pay for any of Mesa's line up these days. Same business plan as Gibson Les Pauls; just reissue bullshit and charging tons of money to relive the glory days. Nothing original or worthwhile.

That Rev G of mine is in a studio now and the dude absolutely will not sell it back to me and it drives me crazy anytime someone mentions a Recto.

Yeah I have a few Rectos I regret selling as well. ..and one I regret modding. Oh well, cost of experience. At least a couple of them I know are in great hands.

I hear you on the Badlander. Killer rock amp, but not a Recto. Though to be fair it did cut the live mix better than a Recto.

So thinking about how the C+ RI has arguably better / more usable mids than the OG, and how the Dual MW has better mids than most Rectos... If the Recto RI has F tightness and even better mids I'm going to be pretty interested. This is why IMO the Dual MW was best live- not because of the third channel, but because the mids were just more live band friendly. When I've gigged (many different) Rectos, plus seeing tons of touring bands with them, a lot of times they disappear in the mix.

I remember A/Bing whatever Recto I had at the time with my SLO100 and looseness aside, the SLO just killed it in terms of cut. ..but I digress.

everyone has "the Recto that got away" story, lol :m9:

I still regret not buying a blackface 90's TRec my friend and I got to play in a GC about 20 years ago. They let us crank it after closing, and it was glorious. I wanted something that wasn't so beat up...like a dumbass. Went through a few rectos that just didn't do it for me, then got a MW Trec that I've had for about 10 years now. Haven't had Recto gas since, but seems like this might change. :aww:

I bought my Rev G in 2018 for $1200. Service and shipping to Mesa was around $600. I sold my first Rev G to GJgo. He's never getting this one! 😏

I’ve never bought a recto . I make every recto sounds the same . Great sound but it’s one sound

I concur. MW in a band mix was really damn nice. I’m curious to hear the new one. I guess they’re calling it the “90’s Reissue”. I played my dual for a few hours yesterday and kinda fell back in love after a long stretch of not playing it. It’s a nice break from the Marshalls.

FWIW, $500 in 2000 is worth around $911.31 in 2024.

zzounds website lists 2 x Mesa DR black bronco / diamond plate for $2699, and 1 x blemished for $2549. 50/100w.

I bought the Tremoverb a month old in 1994 for $1100. The gentlemen had tax issues and needed money immediately.

The Triple was built in 2000. One of the last 500 - 2 channel made. The amp looks new. Like no one ever used it. After cleaning with Deoxit it got brighter and a bit more gain. Original preamp tubes still in it. I bought it a week ago for $1200.

I mentioned before buying it was worth more money. He said he knows. He got a good deal and wanted to pass it on.

The bass is tight enough I can do most of the stuff I do at tempo. With the right overdrive I can get it tighter than any of the rev C or F I have played on.

There was one of the rev C Dual that had been converted to a Triple prototype at GC in Seattle years ago. Steve King talked me into checking it out. It was $700. I would have bought it. But it didn't sound that good to me. I probably should have bought it.

You gotta love when you stumble across what is considered some rare or precious amp or guitar and you check it out and it’s just not that good. It makes you feel like you would’ve dodged a serious bullet if you would ever come across it online and bought sight unseen for a hefty price.

I’ve been let down by pretty much every rare super expensive amp I’ve bought. Hype train sets unreal expectations. Price is not a reflection of tone, but supply - tough lesson to learn

If I understand correctly only a few made. The other one I saw they were asking $10,000. It was unusually bright even for a rev C.

I have always preferred the G over the C and F. The C is obviously more focused. But doesn't have the girth I want from a Rectifier. The F is much closer to the G.

The reissue I hear is half F and half G. That information came from Reza....so who knows.

Reminds me of the two different times (long ago) I took a HRG IIC++ to jam with a new band, and the other guitarist's Crate / Line 6 mopped the floor with my amp in terms of cut & aggression. Bros cut me deep.
