Soooo… $3499 for the RI Dual Rec?

I’m just not a recto fan . I’d take a wizard over anything .except maybe my Hermanson Marshall . So I blend them always for my tone
Will someone show me care to tone that will blow me away ? Like a famous album ?
I’ll check it out
Recto’s are just super different flavors of sound (even boosted) than Wizard’s or Hermansson’s. Apples vs Orange’s. From both yours clips and amps you say you prefer it seems you like things tight, fast, punchy and articulate and if that’s the priority then yes they blow Recto’s away. That’s where those amps shine most. If you prioritize throaty growl, richness and more thickness then Recto’s blow those amps away. The Rev C and Hell Razor are both top 4 for me. For what I prioritize most in sound I would keep the Recto if forced to pick just one, but they’re both best in their respective classes and because of that I’m not surprised to see either of these amps go for a lot of money. That’s what happens to stuff best in their classes

I don’t go by artists or what other guys use, but if I get around to it I can make some close mic’d clips of my Recto’s and see what you think. All good if it’s still not your thing. It’s always been one of my favorite sounds since I first started guitar. That throaty growl on the orange ch is like nothing else

Like I said in my post before I don’t have an answer for you because I don’t follow or care about what other guys use. All I can do is make my own clips. My world is classical guitar, but am a gearhead since I love the tones so much of great gear. If you were to ask me for great tones of certain guitars in the classical world I could recommend some albums or videos, but this is just not my world anymore

See I only like metal because of amps and the sounds they make . It’s honestly the guitar tones

Glad I have never been a huge fan of the MESA sound. Sounds like all bass and treble with no mids. Then people throw pedals in the front to try to draw the mids out. I like that sound, but wouldn't drop that kinda cash whatsoever on any Mesa head.

My favorite DR tone of all time is on the “Dogman” album by Kings X. Not just the rhythm tone, but the lead tone as well.
Have no idea which rev those heads were but they were brutal and slamming but not fizzy, just fat and musical. Ty has an uncommonly good ear for dialing amps, an almost always uses less gain than is available, might have a little to do with it.
He only used them on that album, not sure why he changed, but he changed up his rig almost constantly after that.
I went through 5 variations of the 2-3 channel models back then trying to get there, and some of them sounded great but I could not get them to cut in a mix compared to the ever more familiar Marshall’s.
I’d still like to have another one but not at those prices

There’s countless…

Here’s a straight in one…

Meshuggah

This album was blended with a vh4 like 15 dbs under the recto so mostly recto

https://youtu.be/ZkW-K5RQdzo?si=7MCvp5-7MCTZ1uaG

Rammstein… shit ton of recto tracks and sansamp blended underneath. Remember reading like an 80/20 blend.

That first white chapel is a cool fucking song. But kinda like meshuggah with that tight djent tone. I love meshuggah, but wouldnt try to cop that tone..it is more a mix of the band and great composition.

That said i love the nu metal recto sound from the late 90s

Yeah man. The Rammstein and Rob zombie one are fuckin gnarly. Great stuff.

We don’t need albums or artists as references. Just play one or 2 long held powerchords on the orange ch of a recto rev F or earlier, let it ring and listen to its growl and overall tone profile, really listen. Either you like the sound or you don’t. That’s where it shines in doing what other amps can’t do the same way. I understand if you’re playing stuff that’s busier, faster, certain leads or many other things one may prefer other amps, but if most of you’re doing is powerchords in a lower register it’s hard not to think they sound amazing

It’s all about the right tools for the jobs and at the job good Recto’s do or any other amp I love I find them unmatched for what they do. If I want tight, fast, clear or punchy I’ll go with a Hell Razor, Hermansson, Dorado, or boosted IIC+. All great amps in their own ways

You know, Sam, I feel like me and you are the only ones that nerd out so hard about voicing and open powerchords.

I know that super tight is all the rage. But some of the amps are so tight they arent even fun anymore.

I just want a great voicing and tight enough

Mesas have tons of mids 🤷‍♂️
I was in a band with a guy who had a big mesa head, could never ever get mids out of it. Dark, bassy, undefined. I will have to see that model. Maybe just working with that one amp ruined me on them. That - and almost every demo I hear, I am not into it. Weird. Knowing all I know about gear now, I would definitely have to give them another shot in my own environment.

Tight amps demand very clean technique. I don't know why I've punished myself with big loud clean amps my whole life. Bad habit I guess but every time I plug into some lower watt wooly squishbox I miss the punch and clarity of a tighter amp.

Word on the street seems to be that way. I’ll call my rep at sweetwater and see.

Not according to Gibson. This is some bullshit if it’s true. $3500 plus tax is original rev F range with a better fucking logo and way better resale.
sweetwater reps are great if you do not want to know what's going on
