Soooo… $3499 for the RI Dual Rec?

Bored on a Sunday, here's a photoshop of what these things should / could look like.
If it turns out they offer them in Taurus, then the blue light and chrome knob are like $8-$10 in parts.

I mean come on.

Earlier I said that if I got one of these RI's, I'd change out the loop master knob for a chrome one.
Forgot to mention that I'd also swap out the red pilot light for a blue one.

Oh, and the MW had options for Bronco or Taurus, which makes me wonder if the RI will get those same options too. Kinda hard to picture a Recto in anything but Mesa Taurus.
I had an old rev f that had Bronco tolex. Was awesome looking actually. I’d be surprised if they offered Taurus as it seems their entire line is Bronco now

I thought that too, but I noticed that on the website, the DR MW still shows options for both. I know the MW is being discontinued, but it seems like if they still offer it there, then the Recto RI might have it as an option also as the products are so closely related. Just a hunch though obviously, I don't know anything concrete.

I don't think bronco looks bad by any means. But to me, if Mesa is going for the total package of nostalgia bait by releasing a 2-channel chrome chassis Recto Reissue, you'd think Taurus would be the most obvious choice for tolex, as that's what those amps looked like back then.

The benefit of the MW dual was that it got the lonestar clean channel and the rev f voicing for the high gain channel. It also got a decent crunch channel for in between tones to provide more functionality and tonal options which the RI won’t obviously have.

To me for the costs it’s a no brainer to go with a MW. I just don’t see the RI being that much better at high gain to warrant the additional costs and then the double sting of shit resale against real ones.

All the amps are close to $4000 now. Doesn't surprise me sales are down. The economy and changing culture worldwide.

I like red as much as orange. I tend to to use red more.

Anyone mess around with high gain on the clean green mode ???

It’s like they’re trying to hasten the death of tube amps themselves and push us into sims, modelling and captures . ☹️

My F and G are covered in leather. I prefer that look over the taurus.

I do prefer the leather look as well. But I as well came across some of the of the old amps having black levant tolex. Namely a RevD I personaly had as well as some pictures of RevFs

Older Dual Recs didn’t have a fan, did they? Wonder if it's really necessary or if it's just Mesa following new regulations or something.

The MW Triples did, they had a fan as well as a heat sink under the PT. It's a UL (?) certification issue.

Yep I was aware the newer Triples did, but I haven’t seen any Duals with them. With everything under the hood of the MWDR and those amps still not having fans, I can’t imagine the DR RI needing one as it probably won't have nearly as much stuff in it.

Considering that, I doubt it would be a very big deal to install a quieter fan or put the fan that comes with the amp on a little switch or something.

Man, if the volume of these little mini fans they're using on new amps is a problem, turn it up!!!! :p
