ok, quick rundown
Dr. Z..awful lot of money for what is essentiallly a clean amp...I didn't spend much time with it, but there was a master, bass, treble, mid, presence knob..and taht was it...30 watt combo...1300 and change, used! sounded nice for what it was though...
the soldano...volume was either on or off...lol...sounded ok...alotta fizz...the 'deep' knob was pretty cool..kinda like a resonance I guess...but it wasn't very tight..at least not at the volume I was running it at...probably had to be opened up some more
JVM...I see what people are saying about the cheap knobs =D it was missing one and two more were ready to fall the fuck off...the clean wasn't half bad....but other than that, I only found one of the channels to be useful...teh others sounded weak..even with the gain all the way up...the crunch channel wasn't even very crunchy...the uber high gain channel was easy to play no doubt, but very saturated..too saturated for my liking..farty on the low end...for something that was supposed to have such a great master volume, I was disappointed..
5150 III..another VERY loud amp...like 7:00 on the volume was pretty friggin' loud....only found the third gain channel any good..the others just didn't have much punch or note definition..once again, very low volume...I'm not an obnoxious guitar store wanker
I didn't like that the power and standby were on the back of the amp either...so many knobs on the front they couldn't fit it there I guess..the amp looks sexy though, that's for sure....
I wasn't really impressed with any of them for those prices..especially the soldano...2400 or so...
once again, these amps have to be cranked I'm sure...but it makes me realize how good the master on my amp works..so there..that's my report =)
