Doesn't seem to be the case to me. Besides, as you can see from the pic above.....they are actually good companions that respect each others' companies.

Well they are friends and former business partners.

However, I doubt either one has a trademark on the headstock shape anyway. You have to have something that us considered uniquely identifiable with your brand before getting trademark approval.

Yeah, they're friends. When Anderson was making guitars with their 4-bolt design the neck heel was indentical to Suhr's, but Anderson's were around first, not including the Pensa-Suhr. So sure, the companies make similiar guitars but as you can see they're both out to make the best guitars they can and not out to sue eachother like Fender and Gibson would.

Yeah, i wish they would use those mystery woods that Kramer used back in the day.

guitar collector conspiracy time......imagine if you will....

they are both friends from way back. they both decide to build guitars and have converging ideas.

both are top end companies. both offer insane guitars that collectors wind up chasing.

they can sell twice as many guitars branding them as two DIFFERENT companies than if they were both united in the same cause. so in a back room, the wheels of "democracy" begin to grind.

typical two party system. no hope for the third party guitar collector.

WE ARE DOOMED!!!!! soon the utra-right anderson guys will have the majority vote in the supreme court of tone opinion against the ultra-left suhr guys. suhr eventually takes over the congressional amp congress and puts forth legislation trying to have the president impeached and have a KING installed. that's right, KING GUITAR.

it's the end of the world as we know it.

They are friends and have better things to do.

Besides, a headstock alone is not patentable, and they are dissimilar enough not to be exact.

I too, think the Suhr headstock is dissimilar enough from the T/A. As others have already shown, the closet headstock the Suhr resembles is the Kramer pictured above.

fwiw I love Suhr but hate that ugly headstock...........

I don't get all the hate for Suhr headstocks....Tyler, I can understand.....but, I personally think Suhr headstocks look classy. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

btw the "sue" comment was because these days companies seem to sue everybody for the silliest thing.

But they do look quite identical to me..... good thing they are friends.

Are Tom Anderson a little bit more "hi-end" than Suhr?

I don't like the headstock that much either.... but I played a Suhr Tele in NYC once that played and sounded so good that I could live with the headstock.

Now Tyler I just CANNOT play! yuk!

You need to check one out in person before you come to that conclusion...amazing guitars!
