Sully vs Luxxtone

Hey there so I am thinking about getting my first custom made guitar. I like what I see in both Sully and Luxxtone. IMHO Sully seems to be a bit more modern and Luxxtone more classic. Both seem to be top shelf. I’m not interested in resale values because I plan on owning this forever. So with that said any thoughts or experiences with either builder that anyone can share? Cheers!

I love Luxxtone guitars and Jerry is awesome to work with as well as his wife. I currently have 4 of his guitars and love each one. I will probably do a tele build with him next year. Great quality and vibe. He is an artist. I cannot speak for Sully guitars but I agree - they seem more modern. Modern is not my bag these days. I am sure they are very nice too

I expected a really good guitar when I bought my first Luxxtone. What I got was an incredible guitar top to bottom -- from the neck shape and size, to the playability, to the tone (love the pickups.). Looking to pick up one or more in the future. I also own a Suhr with the exact same set-up and the Luxxtone is definitely on par with the Suhr.

I have not played a Sully.

When you placed an order what are the general build times? Does he have you pay everything up front or down payment then pay up the rest once done?

Awesome feedback everyone. 🤘Seems Luxxtone is the clear choice right now. Any recommendations when going through the build process?

I had just emailed them asking about a build earlier this week. They said lead times were around 12 months right now and just a deposit is required.

All good info to know going into this. I was surprised to hear that it is 12 months lead time because Charvel and Jackson from what I hear are around 12-18 months. But Luxxtone has a solid reputation and building a name so good to know it will be a Christmas gift for me in 2022. Lol
