Sully vs Luxxtone

All good info to know going into this. I was surprised to hear that it is 12 months lead time because Charvel and Jackson from what I hear are around 12-18 months. But Luxxtone has a solid reputation and building a name so good to know it will be a Christmas gift for me in 2022. Lol
Keep in mind that Jerry from Luxxtone is or at least was the Artist tech for Fender, Charvel, Jackson, Gretsch guitars. One of my biggest regrets is letting go of my Luxxtone.

My tech used to work in this job for Dean. He has a bunch of stories about artists and Dean in general. Anyway I've never played a Dean but every guitar I take to him comes back playing way better than expected.

The guys that do setups for the pros must be on another level vs your run of the mill tech. I went to our local shop instead of my usual guy a few months ago and wasted my money. I took my Les Paul to my guy and ended up feeling like I bought a new guitar after new tuners, pickups, and setup

I have an Aviator custom showing up that I ordered around 8 months ago so I'm shopping for my next custom for next year. This post has me thinking Luxxtone although I kind of want an Explorer or RG next time.

Sully is John Sullivan from the old Jackson / Charvel forum days, total no nonsense guy...I remember when he was just starting to learn how to build and was tooling up his garage, posted all sorts of update pictures. Cool to see that he’s kept it rolling. Never played either of those guitars but people rave about the Luxxtones, agree Sully seems to build more modern shape idea types....prob can’t go wrong with either

I gotta go Luxxtone as well. Played many and had one in for some demos a while back. Just amazing stuff. Played a few Sully’s and also killer but there’s just something about the Luxxtone stuff that is so damn slick.

Agreed can’t go wrong with either. 👍

My 2 Luxxtones were some of my favorites, easily at the same level as my best Charvels if not then some (though CS Charvels tend to be very consistently excellent as well of course). One of them is one of the few guitars I have truly regretted letting go and I'm actively looking to buy if it pops back up again. I have yet to try a Sully.

Depends...
If you want a charvel exact copy get the Luxxtone...
Sully has more modern designs...love his rr shape...

I would chose chubtone if I was looking for a more traditional style guitar.
How does the Chubtone compare to the Luxxtone?

Chubtone has damn good prices.

I have way too many spare parts guitars that I slapped together and set up myself. I have never skimped on necks and had great luck with Warmoth and especially Musikraft. I have no doubt several of my slap-together builds could use a good PLEK’ing - but they all play really well. That said, I would immediately drop the coin on a Luxxtone or a Chubtone before I ever pulled the trigger on a Sully. And that uneducated, ill-informed opinion has NOTHING To do with Sully’s quality or attention to detail. I am just a product of my era and I vibe hard with the Luxstones and Chubtones I have seen online.

Have never played with a Luxxtone...

But 3.000 for a bolt on strat is a bit too much...

Chubtone is as good if not better than CS Charvel...
Yeah I kind of been thinking the same. I am planning my next purchase and I keep coming back to a chubtone. I almost ordered one back in May but got an Aviator instead. I think I will go chubtone next
