Sykes, Tokyo 1989, huge sound.

I can clearly hear some keyboards. So, either they were pumping them in or there is a guy off the stage playing them. Sounds killer though. That first Blue Murder album still sees plenty of play time in my stereo.

Was gonna say..... keys are either sequenced, recorded, or ....Don Airey had some time available? :p

The guy recording the audio may be on the FOH board.
Its too good for rafter seating but it is in Japan home of world famous Stereo HiFi.
Analog.man Mike Piera was an EE Engineer in Japan in da 80's.

Far too good, and likely edited and remixed later from multiple sources.

Yep, awesome performance/vid.....it doesn't sound like a FOH recording. Also awesome(Screaming Blue Murder)

Clothes? The highest honor that music is worthy of is some triple D’s
Dan’s daisy dukes!!
Miss you, you hot son of a bitch.

Seriously though… that dude is just a phenom….total package that could probably do or play anything. Can’t believe he’s not a household name.

Would you top it off with the X-chest suspenders as well? That’s where the magic Is…
If I made a deal like “Jack Butler” did to play like sykes; I’d wear assless chaps and whatever else someone threw on me. I think Jon Sykes was into overalls. Wasn’t he wearing them in Jellyroll video? In the rain ? Yeah some concoction of 80s hairmetal clothing (see below). He knew he was the shit. So he flaunted it. That was the era to do it.
You wear that now at a show and one might consider you a douche.

John Sykes is my top favorite singer, songwriter, guitarist. He is so talented. Seems to keep a low profile. I think he is still living in so cal. I recently started learning tunes from his catalog and there are so many gems.... I even programmed a full on patch in my FM9T that I labeled Sykes Metal...lol...

Chaps, by definition, are assless.

Not sure if you saw the Tone Talk episode with Bob Rock.....he lives on Maui and was doing it via FaceTime or other....he was asked who the best guitar player he ever recorded was. Of course, it was Sykes. Came into the studio and did every lead in 1 or two takes...and the second take was just to try a different phrase...both were perfect of course and never had to do another.
The player he had the most difficulty with? IE doing MANY takes to get it right?
Yep, you guessed it. Hammett. Lol
Kirk is an iconic player with the #1 metal band ever. But he apparently needed many takes to get it just right.

It’s not allowed anymore, to flaunt masculinity….just ask Billy Squier…😉
