Saw Ted Nugent last Thursday at the Racine WI county fair. I saw him back in the day, and a few times through 2000 but I would not have put him in my top 20 favorite artists. I might be changing that, he kicked some serious butt! I forgot how good he is live. He had Derek St. Holmes with him and that guy can still hit the notes although not quite as powerful. They played most of the first Ted Nugent album, Turn it Up from Free for Fall, 2 or 3 old blues standards, and most of his other hits. At 64 Ted sings and plays better than ever, the whole band sang lead at times, and most pleasing vocally were the 3 and 4 part harmonies, all sung without auto-tune.
We paid $20 a ticket, easily the concert bargain of 2012 for me.

If you have ever been to a county/state fair, the local Democrat and Republican parties usually have booths. After the concert we walked past the Democrat booth and it was locked up tight! They were afraid of the concert crowd! The rest of the fair including the Republican booth were open for another hour or so.
Ted still preaches from the right side and had the crowd pretty fired up but he never suggested the crowd do anything except vote.

I love Uncle Ted, always have and as a guy that leans ever so slightly to the right, even I cant take his rants( though I have to admit, the things that he says about Obama, Al Sharpton and Hilary Clinton can be funny as hell at times)

Personally, When I go see a band play, its about music, not politics. Ted should stick to what he does best and thats bringing the bombast and lighting up a crowd

So is Ted just a guitar cable in that Marshall half stack? I need to catch one of his shows.

Cool cat. I wouldn't say he is old, just has some mileage. Now Wyman on bass with the Stones, he is getting old...

I've seen Ted several times over the last decade and he always brings it. It's great to see him and Derek have put there egos aside once again to entertain the masses. I just wish Ted would do away with the Britney Spears headset mic. Sorry, that's just not Rock and Roll.

I agree, if I want to hear political rants I'll got the a political really, not a rock concert. Ted, STFU and play the guitar.

I never like U2 to begin with other than Edges cool chordal work but when Bono starts into a political statement I want to knock that fucker flat out.

It's because of his political prose overshadowing his actual musicality that had him drop off my radar long ago. I think the guy's an idiot. And again, opinions and assholes, everyone's got one; but ya this guy to me is just a summary of all the things I can't really handle about the USofA. Sorry, not said in any disrespect to my peeps here...but Nuge is a Stooge.

Just sayin'

I'm going Wednesday night to see him, lost count how many times. I have 2 tickets front row VIP right in front of Ted. Still can't find someone who wants to go see him.
I usually drag the wife but she asks how many X's to I have to see Nugent. :scared:
She won't let me bring the 3yo boy :gethim:

Hes got his views and some of them I actually agree with but even If I rabidly agreed with all of them, I still dont want them interfering with my Rock and Roll. Im all about Seperation of Rock and Politics as well as Church and State...

Saw uncle Ted in Tucson at the county fair also. Was a terrific show and yes, the same 5150's and head set mic.

Was wondering if wild Mick Brown was bangin on the skins?

Thought the best part of the show was Great White Buffalo... He killed it and even brought out the Byrdland and just played the strings off it.

and as a note, I saw the same thing... My daughter and I walked right past the booths on our way to the show and the Dem booth was empty, while the Rep booth had 4 or 5 busy volunteers. Even as liberal Tucson can be I never saw more than 2 people manning the Dem booth too. It really kinda surprised me.

Here's Ted's 5150 live settings if anyone is interested. Just zoom it in and it's very clear.

I don't think he's actually playing through any of those Peaveys he's got on stage (although he does love them and uses/used them to record and play live in the past). They're all just for show. His sound is coming out of the mic'd up combo in the center behind him. (saw him with Styx a few weeks ago in Chicago).

He's been a guitar hero of mine since I started playing. I liked him a lot better when his rants were about how great he was and how awesome his music was. Now that it's turned to how much he hates black people (although he's toned that down since I saw him in 1999 when he said we, Chicago, should nuke all those ni***rs in our projects, Cabrini Green) and everyone who doesn't have his narrow political views should be removed from the country it's really ruined him for me. At the Styx show last month he stood and saluted, by name, each branch of the armed forces and then told the President/Commander in Chief to go fuck himself  (and then every Democrat from IL to go fuck themselves too). It's just ridiculous. For a guy who dodged the draft and tried to marry a minor so he could have sex with her legally he really should tone it down.

I was staying at a casino and walked by the h.o.blues and noticed Ted was playing. I walked up and just followed a few who were walking back in and got in for free with no ticket. I am not a huge fan but I have to say it was a fun show and they rocked. His shtick seems corny at times but I enjoyed it. At the end he shot a flaming arrow into his hollow body guitar while it was still plugged in and it produced this crazy feedback and crazy noise which I thought was pretty badass. He must have had 60 guitars sitting all over the stage and they would just grab different ones to switch up throughout the set.

Seen Ted twice in recent years and he's most definitely using them. I was less than 10' from front stage and I'm enough of a guitar amp connoisseur to know and hear where his sound was coming from. And there was no combo on stage, the sound was coming from the PVs.

I agree, it's a Ted Nugent concert, not political rally. However, it is refreshing to see the rally be for my side of the isle instead of the left where it usually rests with entertainers.

Once an entertainer becomes full of themselves this type of behavior starts to happen, otherwise they would remember they were just entertainers and voice their political/social beliefs off stage like the rest of us.

I'm ok with Ted voicing his opinions... Like Mike above, I have had to endure several decades of the lefts point of view in concert after concert. U2, System of a Down, RATM, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Springsteen, to name a few. I can remember Kiffmeyer and Armstrong (Green Day) go on several 5 - 10 minute diatribes between songs about how they hated Reagan and Bush, and the one RATM show I went to was almost unbearable. With that said, what Ted says and does is mild compared what I have heard from the other side of the isle. I feel pretty safe to say, I will bet that nobody here has ever seen a president hung in effigy or *uck America at an uncle Ted's shows.
