more confusion
I had the mark IIB coliseum 300 series which I had modded to simulclass at mesa hwood

ran 34/L6 for a while, but in that amp preferred all 5881s

the 295 and 400 power amps could also run 34/L6 combos but you have to remove ghe chassis lid on the 295 to fit/accomodate the taller 34s

395 could not run both tubes without modding.

just a though
these amps can sound weak if not retubed with freshies
if you have the capability you could have the seller send to boogie for a factory checkup
then boogie sends you good as new and screaming!

here's some pics the seller sent me. It's not quite in my possession yet but it will be soon! and believe me I will post tons of pics when i get it :)

Looks pretty clean.

.... I still plug in my Mesa amps from time to time.

Very nice  It looks like it has the R2 volume mod, which is a good thing from what I have read.

Looks like a great amp, R2 volume mod will be nice. I still need to do that to mine. That will be expensive to retube though. Speaking of which i need to retube mine

how does simul class work? 4 6L6s and 2 EL34s?

Is there a Simul Coliseum? Every one I've seen has just had a "Full Power/Half Power Switch" and they were all 6L6s.

Yes, I am the original owner, and bought the amp new in 1986. I have the 13th one of approximately 200. It is Simul-Class (Was an option) but is Simul-Class--ALL the time... There is no way to disengage the Simul-Class circuit like on the regular MKIII line (which has the Class A or Simul-Class Modes switch on the back panel).

I can run all 6L6s, or the middle 2 tubes, can be exchanges w/ (2) EL34's. It's 180 Watts

Holy Shit! Look at the size of the PT on that bitch! Did they use that PT on the Coliseum heads exclusively? That think must weigh a f**king ton!

Yes, exclusive to the MK Coliseum

Yes, heavy... In the case it weighs nearly as much as an SVT-- but as our friend mentoneman says, "Big tone is-- Heavy".
