I'm sure that's true, but if this amp does justice to what it's supposed to be then some degree of that type of growl should be there (and I hear it in the demos of it so far thankfully), just darker and fatter vs amps like the Shiva's and XTC's IME not really having it, but also voiced on the darker, fatter side, but smoother. I'd also think (maybe I'm wrong) if any of those changes you mentioned would at all take it away from that distinctive Bogner mod/Snorkler sound, but yeah I wish I had the technical skill and knowledge you do so that I could voice amps to be just what I want. I just have never been a tech savvy kind of guy at all

Well yeah, those changes are basically the heart of what makes this amp sound the way sounds, outside any custom iron or power amp tweaks (which aren't shown in the preamp schematic). Just saying that if someone likes the amp but wants more this or that, it's easy enough to do. Love the amp but want to shift the mid-range up a bit? Easy. One resistor swap. Maybe two if you want to mess with NFB. Like the amp but think it's a bit too dark and bass heavy? You've got three coupling caps to choose from. Change one or two are all three to 0.022uF to tighten things up. Don't like it, change 'em back. Easy. So and and so on. If you can change pickups in your guitar, you can revoice an amp.

I’ll have to learn this it at some point then. I swap pickups in my guitars all the time lol

Bryan Carlstrom wasn’t around for Facelift.

Dave Jerden has trouble recalling anything with certainty. The Randall was used according to him. Sometimes it’s cited as a head unit, other times it’s allegedly a combo. The “Marshall” he keeps referencing is a Super Lead, while you’re picturing a “JMP” aesthetic (and he explicitly said it wasn’t a “JMP”). Sometimes it’s claimed to be modded, other times it’s allegedly stock which he liked because it wasn’t overly gained up. Jerden has also confused Facelift and Dirt, stating the “Marshall” was for lows, the Randall for mids, and the Rockman for highs (which wasn’t used until Dirt).

All that said, Ronnie C and Cantrell have both stated time and again the Snorkler was used for leads, not a Morin. It’s the entire reason Jerry sought out Bogner gear afterward, unless you think both of them are completely wrong, he plugged into a Morin, and thought “Damn this Morin makes me want to go buy some gear from Bogner!” ;)

I'm just clarifying what amp Jerden was referring to. It is actually a JMP 1959 Super Lead 100W from 1980.

I never said Carlstrom was involved on Facelift. It was Dave Jerden's amp.

By the way, JMP-era four holers are still Super Leads.

Yes, Super Lead aesthetics changed over the years. They were also made during the “JMP aesthetic” era, which is what I mentioned above. By the way, aesthetic doesn’t mean “circuit.”

If you want to believe Dave Jerden’s memory that over time has claimed a 100W Randall, Randall head unit, Randall combo, ‘78 Super Lead, ‘88 Super Lead, ‘80 Super Lead, Rockman, etc were used on Facelift…

…instead of Cantrell and Ronnie C that have consistently cited for nearly 35 years that the Snorkler was used, more power to you. I’m not here to change your mind.

The “Killer Fucking Love Stink” moniker that’s on the Snorkler came from Cantrell and Layne because it was how they described the sound of it during the Facelift sessions, but I’m sure they’re all wrong and it’s really Jerden’s memory of the amp salad with floating years and changing formats (heads to combos) that makes the most sense.

I wasn't critiquing the playing... you have to admit all of his demos sound very similar. At this point I think it his choice of those Alnico Celestions but ya never know.
 
Thank god reza’s video wasn’t the first I saw of this thing, Christ. All the feet in his face has made him deaf.

On that note, I really really love what I’ve heard from this amp other than what footc**k posted. I’m definitely going to buy one of these I think, its a unique sound that I’ve always loved and it sounds like they nailed it big time.
 
It’s funny how different the demos are. Neilson had the treble and presence around 3.75-ish a majority of the time, even dipping them down to 1-2 at times.

Meanwhile I think Reza had them both around 8 at all times.
