These guys are flat out nuts, plain and simple. I mean Robben Ford says that the clones do not compare to a real Dumble and all hell breaks loose from the hobby players with big bucks invested.

You have the cloners bashing each other, cloner shrills hammering other amps, and some epic slap downs.

I will give TAG this, I started out not liking him very much several years ago but you have to hand it to him.......nobodt stirs the pot like him   That thread also shows that CERTAIN people on that forum are above the law in a very large way.

The guys are freaking nuts.

Personally I think the whole dumble thing is overrated. I saw a recent thread at the gear page where one of Robben Ford's speakers was changed to a read G1265, I guess that was big news....

I don't have any of Robben Ford's albums, are they worth checking out and if so which one?

As in Trainwreck? There's another topic worth reading into.

I think the dumble cloners are more respected at TGP then Ken Fischer

I love TGP for some overly serious gear talk, if you look at that number 1 rig thread theres a guy with 3 trainwrecks, a lot of those guys have more money than sense, but then the same can be said about a lot of us!

This place is good as it bridges a gap between TGP and "boobs and pubes" dominated HC.

You know - the friday boobie threads are what started me hanging regularly at hc in the first place. It wasn't necessarily the tits but the guys posting the comments. I remember someone said he couldn't even look at next door nikki because she had midget thumbs and I almost shat my pants.

The best dumble tone Ivbe heard is that one live vid someone posted of Carlton and Ford ripping it up... Very dynamic sounding with a bit of sparkle.

That said, that Tag guy strikes me as a huge dork. he could be acool guy for all I know, but from his reading his posts in that thread...

Serious gear talk is one thing, the Dumble cloner crew are fucking nuts and here is another observation about these golden eared zealots..............they will NEVER play guess the amp or tube vs SS..............never.

Any $4000 dumble clone is welcome but god forbid some guy in China puts together a sub $1000 kit............every cloner shrill came out of the wood work saying they did not copy the amp right, the cloners copied it right

Oh yeah...it is DUMBLE STYLE amp btw..........no clone over there

If I had a Dumble clone or something along those lines, I'd make a bunch of Loudness clips and post them over there.

Oh god dont tease me......using a RG550 and boosting with a metal zone.

What's really crazy is I have one of those Ethos pedals, and it nails the Carlton tone, at least as well as most of the clones amps I've heard clips of. :)

tag is actually a pretty good player, but he has a strange need to be THE authority of dumble type tones. and he has a fixation on bruno amps, which are good amps but not as good as tag makes them out to be. i told him years ago that brunos weren't as cool as two rocks and he 'bout lost his marbles. now he's all back into the emerald pro...

scott lerner is way more reliable for dumble tone info because he plays more of those types of amps, plays just like robben ford, knows how to construct the amps and why they get certain responses, knows how to record very well, and can understand how a particular tone got to record with much more experience than tag. and he really doesn't have any loyalty to one particular amp.

he's just reaching for the amp that helps him realize "his" ideal tone.

although i agree that the ethos, and the zendrive for that matter, produce really great dumble style tones, i'm still hearing a quality that is a tad stifling through the boxes, that isn't there when just using the amp.

but-when you combine a box like that with a great dumble style amp, you can get really amazing tones.
i hit the fuchs ods with a dynacomp and made a great tone *respond* exactly how i wanted it to.

Lerner is a great player and I respect his knowledge big time but I also laughed my ass off when Snider lit his ass up in that thread and Snider was 100% on the money.

Don't laugh.... You should have seen the look on Andy Fuchs and Scott Lerners face when Harry and I played the TDS at NAMM a few years back :hys: Everyone was playing Jazz until we went up there with the usual Million notes per second :hys:
That said, Andy and Scott are such a great guys that they actually dug it lol :D

Now that made my day

I wish Scott would stay out of those dumble type amp threads, I know he is a cool guy but comes off wrong in those threads.

i hear you man-scott is above that drivel. i think it just drives him crazy when tag goes on and on about his perspectives on dumble tone.

and the sniderman thing i think stems from scott trying to convince s-man that fuchs with the slx lerner mod was going beyond two rock's current crop, which sman didn't buy. and if s-man has ties to two rock, and scott has ties to fuchs or glaswerks, whatever....they still give accurate info about hard to find and expensive boutique amps.

i still love mojave and eggies, and have no reason to rave about them like i do other than the fact that i own them and consider them superior products.
