what would you compare the EG5 to Super??

Its similar to MHG, but with more high mids and treble. It apparently cuts through a mix like a mofo. Probably similar vibe to Soldano SLO-100. Cant wait for mine to arrive!

IMHO, the EG5 sounds a little like but much better than the SLO I used to own......it also reminds me of my Diezel Herbert a bit(depending on how you EQ it). I played it at rehearsal with my band last night and it really cut through.....hands down my favorite module for the style of music I play... Interestingly enough, I tried many pre-amp tubes with the EG5....and the stock Sovtek 12AX7WA sounds the best!!

I heard you and Bruce and Frank had a hard time naming this module and settled for EG5. I think you should re name in honor of your self. Call it the HHG (Hilly High Gain). Just tell Bruce it stands for Hyper High Gain, which makes sense to since it is a MHG with an extended or hyper upper mid punch.

OK, I officially agree with this thread title! I was talking to Jeff this morning after running the EG5 with the master at 3oclock at band practice last night and GODDAMN! This module is SERIOUS. It IS the high gain monster Ive been waiting for from the Eggy boys. MHG sounds awesome when Im working out riffs on my own, but I couldnt get it to sit exactly where I want it to in the mix when the rest of the band came in. EG5 finds that spot and then OWNS it. This is a module you can set everything to Noon and just crank and it will destroy you.

Ive got the SL2 for my hot rodded Marshall thing, the E-Rect for my Mesa flavored tunes, and now EG5 to do everything else. I said Id be surprised if it unseated SL2 as my go-to high gain module. NOW... I just dont know. They really hit it out of the park with this one. Its time I really sold my SLO. MOD 50 does it all. For all of you guys looking for the Lynch , etc SLO-100 sound in your MOD 50, you just found it. its called EG5 and it will absolutely blow you away.

I think I'm ready for the MHG conversion,after getting the SL2,the MHG just falls short,but it does have a incredible tightness to it,I would sure like to try one,or possible trade for pretty new COD The SL2 is just incredible,I don't think i've used much else lately............
