I love southern Texas.

I have to say though, we went through SA last year on our way to the RGV. I wanted to go to The Alamo. We got there and the area around The Alamo looked like a shithole and there was no place to park that wasn't $40. So we drove around it a few times and got back on the highway.

On the subject of light density, a few years back we went to Bruneau Dunes Idaho, one of the darkest places in the US, to the observatory. About 10 or 11 PM they let people line up and walk through looking through the telescope at different stuff. It was fucking awesome.

Yeah, but having never been there and being that close I thought it was worth checking out. You have to actually call ahead and make reservations. I thought that was pretentious. And they were renovating it. Which seems wrong somehow.

We spent a couple weeks in Donna Texas and had a good time. We were there to move my brother in law's step mom back up here after his dad died. S. Padre was pretty cool. All the people seemed friendly. It was 109 in early May.

Went around Dallas, through Houston. Not impressed with either place. And Texarkana ? Well, fuck Texarkana. Some black girl at McDonalds I could barely understand told me the total for my 2 quarter pounder with cheese meals was like $125. The hotel we stayed in had a bar on the bottom floor and the parking lot was full of homeys spliffing it up and generally acting like animals. My brother in law had a 26' Uhaul and I had a Ram 3500 with a 36' enclosed trailer full of everything the old lady ever owned. I sent everyone else up to sleep in a room, I slept in the truck.

I have wondered recently how much traffic OTC sub-forums bring into a site. I imagine the upside must be big given what an absolute pain in the ass OTCs can be to staff.
