It all started with the great update of 2017.
That’s when TGP started to include “likes” in the software (against the recommendations of many to leave them out).
At first it was “oh cool, we can like things instead of replying “+1”.
Then someone realized it keeps a leader board of most likes. That’s when the “like farming” began. Clicks of members liking everything that their buddies posted to boost their numbers. Then came “likes insurance” threads. Threads made with the sole intent for members to regain likes they may have lost when a popular thread was deleted.

Soon enough it was engrained into the culture.

Some are still upset that I once got 161 likes on a single post.

Basically, anyone with a bit of humour and banter about them is fucked as some boring cunt with no likes for their boring, no twat gives a fuck posts will harbour a grievance against them. Sitting there in their stained underpants, stinking of rotting fish, shit under their fingernails, bitterness wells like Old Faithfull, disgorging a sulphurous sputum of hate because someone got a "haha". Reported!!

Which I'll admit I mainly did. I liked looking at someone's new guitar or amp because it was gear after all, but even just discussing gear that could be done in the Pub too.

One weird thing I started to notice, is that oddly, it seemed like the people with the broadest taste in and knowledge of music, and a lot of the more serious musicians, tended to frequent the Pub and the Farce thread in particular

Whereas, in (say) the SHL, at least half the guys in there apparently only listen to pre-1985 major-label guitar rock and seem to pride themselves in not uh, being engaged in the creative side of music very much

I must admit, a former pubster comes to mind with this description.
Anyone know what happened to Tom T? My overall memory of him was correcting people and complaining…was there another side?
