That sounded awesome! I think he was playing Dokken's "Burning Like a Flame" in the beginning and sounded just like those pinch harmonics Lynch did.

That was Burning like a Flame , he was just playing it a little fast. Guess I`ll start putting a few bucks in my piggy bank , there`s no way I`m not gonna get this pedal :)

very impressive! best i heave heard via YT vids say goodbye to that new EVH Od.
I am curious to how it sounds at lower gain settings?
Looking for real even harmonics and a smooth break up.

What is it about these new pedals that makes them sound so much better and more "amp like" than before? We're seeing these great sounding, tube amp-like pedals from a bunch of companies. A lot of them sound really good. Bogner, Diezel, Amptweaker, Wampler, Carl Martin, Friedman, tons more...

I'm really curious as to what new techniques/circuits/components are being used to increase the quality and feel so dramatically. At this point, I have no desire for an expensive tube amp anymore. VST amp sims, AxeFX/Helix digital modelling, pedals like this...why waste my money on a tube head with limited options anymore?

The amp in a box pedals are more like preamps than a typical dirt pedal.

Two big factors: many (all to my knowledge actually) use internal current boosters to get a higher internal voltage. So, they run on 9v but internally are operating at a higher voltage.

They want to see a CLEAN amp. The pedal is a preamp and does the work for gain while the clean amp is merely the platform and acts more like a power amp. These types of pedals sound noticeably worse when run into a dirty amp
and in many cases lose their feel and character.

What about into the clean channel of a dirty amp?

If it sounds that great through a clean channel I would just stick with my Mesa Boogie ElectraDyne combo and load that bad boy on the effects board. No brainer!

Well... the buxom betty is a single channel amp that breaks up. Like he said.. the amp was set clean. Lower volumes. That amp is made to break up.
So its not a totally clean platform.

I am assuming you could also put it in the fx loop bypassing preamp and using your tube power amp without going straight through. Either way, it sounded good but it is only one clip fellas, hold on to your money for now until you hear more. The synergy stuff is what really caught my attention this year. Sounds really good from the clips I have heard so far. Friedman has his name all over that project too so you know it kicks.

Oh lord here it is...

I want to try out some of these OD/pre-amp pedals direct into an interface for silent recording. The BE-OD, maybe the Wampler Wreck..add in my regular boosts for flavor. Might be able to skip the amp sim plug-ins all together. Very interesting.

Nice sounding pedal! Will be on the lookout for one of these!

Don't buy any overdrive pedals until you've sampled a Thorpy Gunshot. I don't rave about any particular piece of gear very often, but this one deserves it. Hands down the finest overdrive device that I've ever used.

As a bit of a testimony, the rest of the guys in my band (including the soundman) all thought that the Gunshot through the full clean channel of my Marsha sounded better than the BE channel on it's own. I can't say that I agree or disagree with that, but I will say that it sounded incredible.

I just watched every available vid of this OD pedal and not a one impressed me like the one lone BE-100 vid did?
I just prefer the voice of the friedman stuff. has more grunt or something

Love the clip & addicted to OD pedals-my job is never done...

Bumping this one - if the BE-OD is successful, wonder if they'll do a Dirty Shirley pedal?

I would love to hear it through an amp that is not a friedman. haha.

I am sure a lot of pedals would sound good through an amp that good; the real test will be hearing it through other amps.

how about through a stock DSL or peavey classic 50 or a fender twin? to me that would be the real test - common backline amps.
