Bunch of hypocrites in this thread. Who amongst us hasn't put on our mom's panties and pranced around the house while she was at work?

I don’t really think everyone should accept my point of view, but I certainly want people to understand where I’m coming from. And while I don’t always agree with others, I am certainly listening to why their opinions differ from mine.
I just really don’t know where you were going with the nudist thing though man. Maybe there is a miscommunication on why you think I’m ok with drag, and that is the disconnect. I find nothing inherently wrong with wearing a dress in public, whether you are a woman or just like dressing like one. So for that reason, I do not mind men in dresses reading to kids. (I would mind naked men or women reading to my children).
I'm trying to illustrate that people are getting labeled as a bigot or hateful just because they don't find something (drag story time) appropriate for children. I'm using the nudist example because it's something you find inappropriate and can maybe relate to it.
You said you wouldn't want a nudist to read to your children because it would be inappropriate. But that doesn't mean you hate all nudist and are a bigot. I'm guessing you wouldn't like it if people started labeling you as a bigot. And you wouldn't like it if you were attacked any time you tried to express your opinion.
This is exactly what you and people of your mindset are doing to those who think drag queens reading to children is inappropriate. They are automatically labeled as hateful and attacked if they express their opinion.
I'll try to illustrate with some examples.
Example 1:
Person 1 - I find it inappropriate for schools, libraries, etc. to hold drag story time and have drag queens reading to young children.
Person 2 - What's wrong with that? Reading to children is a good thing. So what if its men dressed as women, there's nothing inappropriate about that. Person 1 you're a bigot and using "the children" as an excuse to spread your hate.
Person 1 - I don't hate drag queens. I just think young children don't fully understand this and aren't ready to be exposed to it. It's not appropriate for places to force this exposure.
Person 2 - You're a bigot! Stop spreading your hate!
Example 2: Now let's replace drag queen with nudist.
Person 1 - I find it inappropriate for schools, libraries, etc. to hold nudist story time and have naked people reading to young children.
Person 2 - What's wrong with that? Reading to children is a good thing. So what if its people not wearing clothes, there's nothing inappropriate about that. Person 1 you're a bigot and using "the children" as an excuse to spread your hate.
Person 1 - I don't hate nudists. I just think young children don't fully understand this and aren't ready to be exposed to it. It's not appropriate for places to force this exposure.
Person 2 - You're a bigot! Stop spreading your hate!
If you want more examples go back and reread the conversations you've been having but replace drag queens with nudists and men wearing women's clothes with people wearing no clothes.
My main points being that (and I say you in the general sense, not you personally)
You shouldn't be labeling others as bigots just because they have a different view of what is appropriate.
Just because you find something appropriate, that doesn't mean it should be forced on everyone else.
It's hypocritical to expect different when you substitute something you find inappropriate.
It's also hypocritical to preach tolerance when you don't attempt to understand or show tolerance to another viewpoint.
As far as I know, the only real people here in OTC are Monkey Man and me.
More surprising.. you're already here, ready to counter anything I post. It’s surprising that you wake up this paranoid lol

YikesFinally, something we can agree upon.
I guess my question would be what do you find so inappropriate about drag? What is offensive about it to you?
For a nudist it’s the literal nudity.
Personally, I don't find anything offensive about someone dressing in drag.
The only thing I find inappropriate about it is places forcing exposure of it to children. You may see it as a simple explanation and have no issues with it, but not everyone does. It should be up to the parents to determine if their child is emotionally ready and when their child can be exposed to drag culture.
Same thing for nudity. I find nothing offensive about nudity. But it is inappropriate to force exposure of it to children. You find it inappropriate and wouldn't want another entity forcing your children to be exposed to it. I'm sure a member of a nudist colony would see it the same way you view drag and have no issues with it.
A man going over the top with heavy makeup and elaborate women's clothing reeks of mental illness or spiritual unwellness. That they want to read to kids in that kind of attire should set off alarm bells but people are no longer spiritually cognizant.Personally, I don't find anything offensive about someone dressing in drag.
So are you ok with him using the ladies bathroom when he needs to go when he reads to your child at school? My daughter has been doing active shooter drills since PreK, why would I be worried about her seeing a man in a dress?
Forcing exposure of what though? The simple fact that some men sometimes dress as women?

I think people join nudist colonies because it’s pretty clear to them that they can’t just be naked in public. Children or adults, you can’t just show up at a restaurant naked and expect to be seated.
