That's the rumor. Hope it's true!

C'mon Bruce give us just a little info don't keep us waiting what cha got going ,huh huh

I'm guessing there won't be any new modular stuff at this NAMM show.

FWIW, I reinserted the IE4 into my rig.

Damn, it sounds good. I'll probably keep it in for a while. It has always been in my top 1, 2, or 3.

The IE-4 is an awesome preamp. I use mine in conjunction with my RM4 in my live rig. I had originally planned on replacing my IE-4 when I got my RM4, but the IE-4 sounds so good, I decided to keep both units.

+1

I had originally planned on selling my IE-4 when I got my M4 but it didn't work out that way. Over time, I realized that I actually liked the IE-4 (and especially my MICA 100) better than the M4 and didn't really need the versatility of the modular stuff. For the modded Fender and "brown" Marshall tones, the TOL amps really cover those tones as well as anything else out there.

Yup. Gotta love this stuff. Tweaking stuff to your liking is icing on the cake. We all wish any piece of gear could do that. Everything you use will change something, so to find what you want to hear ya gotta tweak something. Keep us posted about getting a module to sound like your Mark!!!

I need a COD donor module to really get the mark thing going. Got any leads? :D

There was one on eBay earlier today. Looks like it might have sold......

Sure dont brother. Those look to be rare. My Mark IIC module was built on a Ultra Lead module.
I had a stocker but let it go recently.

Aw man you just missed one on eBay that ended not even a week ago  . . . I bid on it myself, but I bid really low and got outbid. It ended up only going for about $230-$235. There's a seller who just put up a bunch of dual Eggy's on eBay the other day (including the C.O.D. I think), but he wants waaay too much for them (like $400 plus shipping!) . . .

EDIT: Apparently the one Rob mentioned is the same one I was talking about, which did sell. It looks like the seller has already sold a handful of those modules, and his magic "Best Offer" price is $300 plus shipping.

My main rig currently is a M4 with a RT2/50. I won't say it's the best sounding set up I've ever played or heard, but as far as versitility goes, it can't be matched. My M4 will never be parted with.

Most of the things people don't like about some of Bruce's modules could easily be tweaked with some caps/resistors and a soldering iron. Bruce typically smooths out the gain in his designs and I know a lot of people don't like this and move away from Egnater because of it. A short conversation with him would allow you to modify your stuff to suit your needs.

That is very true. People all over the place know about all the pro modders out there for the Randall stuff. I think even if you don't want to go to Bruce, there should be a group of people to go to to get the sound you're looking for. Hence the reason I'm working with Nick to get some of his mods down, and working on some new things of my own. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge :D)

Good luck with that!!!

I take major issue with some of the 'pro-modder' stuff out there, only because they are completely ripping people off and people just don't know it or don't care. You send them your module, they add a cap to a part of the board where there was previously an unpopulated cap location, they ship it back to you, and you pay them $100+ (in some instances)? RIP OFF. I'll never understand why people will pay a big name guy hundreds of dollars to solder in $0.96 worth of new components. Blows my mind.

A lot of good points here. I think you've touched on a sore spot that has affected more than one MTS user. I have received my share of hacked up modules. Components clumped together in C3, Sozo's wedged into them, cold joints, etc. All advertised as stock.

I've also paid for work and been satisfied with the results. In retrospect, I could have performed some of the mods myself. Cost for work is debatable I guess. It's a niche business and it's not like the big name guys are drinking from golden goblets with more bling than Mr T. The MTS users are a drop in the bucket in comparison to the amp market at large.

I personally take exception to the sale of an item as stock if it simply isn't. This goes for any product. Non disclosure is a bad business practice and generally indicative of wrongdoing.

I don't like the prices of the modded modules either. I've got 4 Salvation mods in the works and those alone have set me back $1600. Personally, I don't know anything about modding circuits. I can't do the work myself The Stock Randall's are so/so, the ones Dave Friedman mods are just ok. I had a JF erect that didn't get my mojo going. Anthony's work on the other hand is spot on. I've got his Custom 3 and it's phenomenal!

I to am wondering if the new Egnater modular stuff will make a NAMM appearance???

I've been exceedingly absent from this forum, but my love of the modular series is as strong as ever. One of the greatest innovations in tube amp history. I will remain a faithful modular user till the end!
