The skinny from Friedman himself NAMM 2016

To me it sounds like you guys with Friedman amps just want to spend money.. think about it, you put a clean boost on top of your BE and you essentially have HBE levels of gain. "But I am using a pedal!" well technically yes, but just to push your amp vs using an actual transistor/fet based pedal to get all your dirt from. These will appeal to guys with Plexis or JCM800's who want a touch of Friedman at a low price. If I had the real deal I sure as hell would not be considering an amp in a box no matter how good it was. If I wanted something to play through a PA or a backline amp then yeah, why not.

I had this initial reaction as well. I have no use for this pedal since I have a BE100, but sometimes i have to backline with amps that i don't like to use. This pedal may be a nice thing to keep in my bag for such occasions. Gotta try it first of course.

With all due respect, what's it to you why I would want one??...There are lots worse things you can do than spend money supporting a great builder like Dave but to the point.....there are more than a few reasons why this pedal would interest me, primarily if I want to bring with me in a portable package the tone I'm used to getting with my main tone machine.....I use a dual amp setup, for some occasions it would be easier for me to cut it down to one amp if I had this pedal. The Friedman amp to me wasn't some status thing, I got it because I wanted the tone...I don't flip gear like crazy and I'm not loaded so the purchase of the BE100 was a big deal for me....it takes a long time for me to make a purchase like that, and for that very reason I went with an amp that I knew was gonna give me a great sound and the tone I was looking for....it's more practical to make one purchase on something great than to flip gear on multiple things and actually spending more money and still not getting what I was looking for. Same thing the other way around, if Suhr put his clean channel in a pedal would I be wrong to get one just because I have a PT100?....the answer is no, and either way, who gives a damn...really?

I like to use an overdrive on the clean channel to give it that pushed Plexi tone making it a four channel amp.

Another great application of this pedal, 4 channels of Friedman tone.....what's not to like!

I think I'm going to buy a Roland Blues Cube (or similar small clean combo amp) and build a pedalboard of mini pedals for effects, boosts/fuzz, and 2 or more pre-amp pedals. The BE-OD will be on that board for the Marshall-esque sounds. Now I need to find more Mesa-esque pedal for that side of the spectrum. Wampler Triple Wreck sounds pretty good, but I'd like more options. Seems like the majority of the amp-in-a-box pedals are Marshall based.

That's a great rant and all but I more or less covered you already when I said this "If I wanted something to play through a PA or a backline amp then yeah, why not." So sit back, relax, and breathe, i feel ya bro! I agree with you.. talking about people who bedroom play or actually play live with their BE's.

I had a triple wreck and it was a great sounding pedal.

I am really impressed with Dave right now. The dude must be insanely busy, cranking out the existing line up, introducing a couple new model amps last year. Still available for mods and pedal board creations and setups, new line of pedals and such, and his enclosed booth so that you can actually hear his amps in that swirling sonic mayhem that is Namm is just fantastic. They way he has his product line laid out and ready to go;amps all on standby and ready to rock,,,the dude is firing on all cylinders right now. As to the weight comment mentioned earlier, I actually think he has slimmed it down a bit compared to earlier videos from the past. This guy clearly is turning to gold whatever he touches and I'm excited for him. Just hope that the temptation to mass produce his products doesn't come and take away all this American made high quality goodness!

That's good to hear, and from another Illinois dude too :) I need to update my profile, I am no longer in San Diego.

What little I've heard of the Triple Wreck sounds good. I just wish there were more options. I've been playing with VST amp sims for a couple of years, and there are some really killer Recto plugins out there. Lepou's Lecto in particular sounds great to me. Very similar to my old Single Rec that I miss so much.

We're not starved for choice when it comes to the Marshall in a box product, that's for sure. Lots of good sounding options out there. The BE-OD will be my Marshall sound of choice. I just wonder how well a Roland Blues Cube will take these pre-amp pedals.

I like the tone of the BE and the Tube OD. I'm excited about these and the pedal board as well.
I could see owning both, they sounded awesome.
