Thoughts on modifying a classic amp

Do you want to sell it or keep it as an investment? My 401k bring me no musical pleasure. I see most prices coming back down at the moment, and bassmans we pawn shop amps before the boomers started overpaying for them.

Mod it dude. Go for the gold. You already said you had "3 other forums opinions".
Yeah. It’s mostly different here. The other three forums generally called me an idiot for even considering it. There was no convincing them of the concept of personal property or individual rights. They own my amp somehow and disallowed even the thought of modification.

Now that I know this place is a bit different, I can ask questions without being chided. I do appreciate that.

I caught the same guff whenever I was modding my '64 Fender Princeton into a fire-breathing gain monster.

Don't listen to those curmudgeons !

Leo Fender could have learned a thing or two from Mark Cameron !

I don’t know what that means.

69 bassman I had, normal channel turned up to 5, hit with a tube screamer was a killer sound that killed my Bogner Shiva in a band setting. It was glorious, one of the best sounds I've had. Flipped the Amp because I rarely got to play it that loud.

Here it is using a Suhr RL into a 4x12 GB IR:

Lot of great mods out there for these amps. I'd mod it if you want to keep it. Bet it can sound killer.

I know what a magic 8-ball is. I don’t know why you posted it though. 🤷‍♂️

And someone tell me the Mark Cameron story.
You have been to three forums plus this one asking if you should mod your amp. The ultimate answer lies in the 🎱….shake it and find out.

Mark Cameron modded amps to either sound like shit or be the holy grail depending on pov…also took peoples amps to modify and still has them or sold them for pizza or something.

The reason I asked in this forum was to gauge the response. My ultimate answer was always the same, I’m going to do what I want with my amp.

Now that most of you are cool about it, I’m not gun shy to ask for advice or ideas.

Yikes. This is why I work on my own stuff. I’ll never go to a tech again after the fiascos I’ve been through.

Here they’ll call you an idiot for NOT modding it.

Bassman amps like those used to be dime a dozen. Good platforms to gut and mod for cheap. Same with other 60’s /70’s amps. Unfortunately now all those are more $$$ now ( like everything).
I would have no problem modding it or about anything if it needs it. Though I wouldn’t drill holes in it. Rather have something useful than just to look at.

Yep. My goal is to have an invisibly modded amp. No extra holes or switches. Just more useful. The normal channel inputs are probably going to be an effects loop.
