Tighter JB?

I hear good things about the Duncan Black Winter, it's supposed to be a tighter JB style pickup.

There is always the Duncan custom shop, tell them you want a jb with less junk in the trunk and mj will make it...

I'm a big fan of the Nazgul and Omega myself. Black winter is also up there too.

It's funny how in some guitars the JB can sound just perfect and tight in the low end while in others the low end is too boomy and fat. Really interesting!
I have a JB in my Chubtone and Charvel but I think eventually I'll have a Sunset Strip in oneof those guitars. The JB does what it needs to do. I personally think it sounds awful in a Jackson V but that was years ago.

Jaden FW should do the trick. I have it in an Ash RG Prestige and it sounds killer, like a much smoother more even sounding JB.
The Tonenerd stuff sounds great as well, i just haven't personally tried one yet :(
BK HolyDiver will do the trick as well.

I have a Jalen FW in my Dean ML.

Great pickup !

I didn't have the tonenerd pickup before... its tighter than the aldrich pickup ?

I been liking the JB, JBJ l, 59 bridge and aldrich in my gibson, Heritage and Jackson...

Just wondering if a better JB is the Roxy, then what will a better 59s be for the tonenerd pickup?

Recently I gotten the Heritage H150 regardless on its small flaw on the guitar that's correctable I found the 59 to be nice and good, basically a JB like without the mid hump but I would like the 59s to be tighter..

One thing people often overlook, pickups sound different on different guitars.
Pots make a difference as well.
Then you have amps and speakers.
Everything matters when tone chasing.
It can be an endless rabbit trail.

Better is subjective and gear dependent. The Aldrich has more lows and mids, whereas the Roxy has a little higher resonant peak that give is a "kerrang". It is tighter and more immediate. As for a 59 equivalent, I typically don't wind bridges in the PAF range, although I can and will. I just feel that market is covered, whereas hand wound high output isnt nearly as saturated and I feel that I can better relate to.

I just got one in the mail today for my D'Avanzo super tele. LOVE the one I have in my EVH special.

Scott (Tone Nerd) is also winding a Whiskey for the same guitar- really curious how they'll compare, but I'm sure both will be killer. So many good winders out there!

If I was looking for a tighter JB, I'd probably take a serious look at the Duncan Thrash Factor. It's supposedly a tighter JB with less low end. More highs too. Whether they're more sizzly or not, I don't know.
I'll 3rd the Thrash factor. This is supposed to be a clone of a favorite JB that Dave Mustaine used alot to record. The other is maybe a Suhr Aldrich. If yo need tighter then maybe a Duncan Custom. All of tonenerd pickups seem to be tighter as well from the clips I've heard.

The first 3, the Sunset, Roxy, and W8 were intended to be tight and more modern voiced. The Psykes and Whiskey had a more bouncy feel. I'll be posting some clips later this weekend of an A2 ceramic version for my new 1984 series that will be available with most magnets and.will be near the 14k range and be more traditionally voiced
