Whatever, that's lame AF. It will never match the complexity, originality, and utterly groundbreaking tones of this band and this song:

For sure, there's some great guitar sounds on those Iced Earth tunes but there's also some ham fisted meat head chug-a-lug that has been done over and over and over, those guys aren't reinventing the metal wheel or even adding anything new to the genre by any stretch. I'll take Monster Truck and Red Fang over Iced Earth but that's just me. Polyphia is a small doses thing for me, there's some specific lines that are fucking awesome, and a bunch that gets tiresome after a while. Its just really funny how much of a lightning rod this kid is especially for things that have zero to do with playing guitar. It's a better thing to be able to play on his level and be able to dial it back to basic metal horse gallop chugging than to be stuck wishing you had chops remotely close to even playing basic Tim Henson stuff.I d listen to Tim's playing while sipping on a Grand Marnier and having a cigar before listening to Iced Earth, in that situation, but i totally enjoy Shaffer's playing a lot.
Each style of music for different applications or moods.
I listen to Attila all the time, but some Polyphia also when the time comes.
Yup, i wish i had his chops and apply only a small amount here and there in an awesome riff driven metal song. I also only can listen in small amounts as it is too much for my brain to analyse it all.For sure, there's some great guitar sounds on those Iced Earth tunes but there's also some ham fisted meat head chug-a-lug that has been done over and over and over, those guys aren't reinventing the metal wheel or even adding anything new to the genre by any stretch. Testament is my favorite Christian metal band.Yup, i wish i had his chops and apply only a small amount here and there in an awesome riff driven metal song. I also only can listen in small amounts as it is too much for my brain to analyse it all.
Those first Iced earth albums are classics, but after those i lost interest. As much as i am a Pantera nut, same applies!!!!
The only band that i truly never got tired of, and to me, they only got better and better over time, in every aspect, vocals, rythms, leads, drums, production, artwork, etc...
And that is Testament. I can not get enough of them. Alex is a mental lead player and is crazy good at harmonizing and arranging stuff, Eric Peterson is just totally beyond us mortals!!!!! Lol. Exaggerating a bit here but he is a monster riff master. His leads are also quite cool also.
Oufff, got derailed here a bit... Sorry
I take it you don’t like any post 2010 tech-deth bands that never play below 250 BPM and sweep/tap the majority of their riffs too? Because you pretty much just described that genre as well.Well, as iced earth is attempting to write what used to be known as music as opposed to faggy guitar pro riff salad, it might be a case of apples and oranges
No, I don't care for that either.I take it you don’t like any post 2010 tech-deth bands that never play below 250 BPM and sweep/tap the majority of their riffs too? Because you pretty much just described that genre as well.

Found Tim’s accountAll I know is that Tim and my youngest son are friends. They are the same age. They got to know each other when my sons band was touring.
The way my son tells it is that Tim doesn’t give a fuck what people think. He does what he wants. According to my son Tim is no bitch.
My son says Tim is pro-LGBT and has a smoking girl. They talk guns and have been to the range. They talk cars. They talk guitars. They party.
My son also told me that Tim has done more for his playing than anyone he knows. Tim is very free with his knowledge and will coach my son on his playing and give him pointers.
Sounds like a dude who lives on his own terms to me. Reminds me of Randy Rhoads… a straight dude that wore womens clothes and shoes. I can’t shit on a dude who has been a true friend to my son.
