Tone Talk 1-3-2025 Jose Arredondo Daughter

There it is...limited run Jose Mod through the Friedman Custom shop...not available through dealers

Will have all the gain styles Jose ever did, dave described it as the "end all be all" and it will have Jose's signature on it

Sort of said its a limited run but then sort of said they're going to keep building them
Fuck me. Literally exactly what I’d love - even more than a BE Deluxe 100.

dude, just my humble opinion based on limited experience, but this thing will dominate a BE-100 DLX if it’s what I’m expecting.

Will be well worth it imo  …get on the wait list when it opens and if you don’t want it when they’re ready you can back out

In the past Dave has not taken upfront deposits but not sure how he’ll do this one since it’s direct only and not through dealers

Sounds cool AF. Doubt I'll pick one up since I've got a few Jose-esque amps already but if I didn't I'd be all over this.

Yeah that’s the boat I’m in. I’ve been bugging @RedPlated to sell me his Fortin HG Jose for years but he’s not budging :cheers2:

I’ve got the baddest Aldrich mod around and my own custom build. Dave’s kitchen sink Jose would fit in nicely and round things out.

Yeah what people don’t know is that so many fucking albums have been recorded with variations of Jose’s mods that it would absolutely destroy a channel switcher as a tone library. Combined with an effects loop I don’t know anything that could touch it except for Dave’s other custom work that’s variations of a few of these mods already.

People are probably asking “why not design one yourself since you’re capable?” And that’s a valid question. My response is that I absolutely hate diode clipping as they’re a PITA to tune an amp that has them and it stay balanced. Jose already did all of the hard work to figure out what works and what doesn’t. I’d rather grab this than go down that road myself when I already know it would be aggravating,

That amp lives rent free in my head fwiw :m17:

She’s a bad bitch that has greenbacks shaking pants legs now. I have since fixed a ton of shit wrong with it (lifted the board, ripped and redesigned the entire ground plane, bad cathode bypass cap replaced, bad presence and master replaced) and also turned it up even more. You can dime both gains and it doesn’t oscillate.

3/4 way through listening to the Ep ... this Jose amp will be EPIC ... Daves voice cracking when he first announced it brought a tear to my eye ... will be an great amp that i'll never be able to afford haha .. so what do peole think the new 20watt amp will be at NAMA??? SS 20??

Dave said it will be between $3,500-4,000, with that, I’d expect the daughter to get about $250-500 per, not $1,000. It’s free money to her, anything is more than the zero she’s gotten to now.
Oh, true story!

Anything I’ve ever seen about Dave, including my own personal interactions, have always shown him to be very decent. I’m sure they’ve worked out something she felt comfortable enough with to have her dads name and signature put on. Dave would be the only big name out there I’d want doing something like this, that’s for sure.

All I can say is I was the take my money comment lol

Dave is a class act all around, awesome that he brought Marisol in to do this as he could have easily made it the Friedman Jose and not given up a dime.

Whether you like Dave’s amps or not, there’s no denying he’s a stand up guy who’s also patient and listens to what you want. I probably drove him crazy tweaking a ‘74 Super Lead of mine 2-3 times, but he never tried to steer me away from what I wanted or push me in a direction of what he would like. Just did what was asked.

haha I saw that! it's gonna be killer!!

I'll get on that list. Unfortunately, I visit rig talk more than social media, so I'll probably be late by several hundred names!

can always go the "send him a Marshall (new or old) route" and have him mod it to that spec! the old Marshall he modded for me to the full Jose mod spec is awesome!!

do you still have that marshall? id hold on to it if you do. sounds like he's too busy to do the mod and my guess is the 'custom shop' is a way to get paid a bit higher for the reputation he's built (rightfully so) without paying the dealers a cut. therefore, not as much of an incentive to mod old marshalls going forward.

I sure do still have them...I almost sold the two Marshalls he modded for me a few weeks back but somewhere between plugging in to them to do clips for people and almost having a deal finalized...I realized what I'd be missing.

ones a '77 JMP with the full Jose mod and the other is a '83 JCM 800 with the JEL mod!

I can't speak for Dave (obviously lol) but in the times I've asked him if he'll ever stop doing mods, he seems to have suggested he won't. I think he wants to follow the bruce egnater path where he's just happily modding stuff and building stuff into his later years. that's just my two cents though!
