Top 3 favorite amps you have played

I haven't seen, let alone played, half the amps mentioned in this thread.

I haven't had the ability to, financially, but I don't think that makes me any less than anyone else.

Shit, when I was coming up, there wasn't too much to choose from, honestly. You played what you could get, and saved for the gear you drooled over.

I don't buy and try. And now I know what I need to get the job done right, regardless of genre or style. I don't need much, it just has to work correctly.

So I get it.

Very similar to your experiences.

Have a local Long and McQuade here but to try anything boutique seems extremely difficult and expensive where I'm wasting the day to travel and spending $$$ on fuel. I'd rather look on the internet, listen to clips, read the specs and ask people questions than deal with any of that.

I burnt myself out chasing gear about a dozen years ago. Lot less to try back then but I tried everything I could get my hands on including a lot of the boutique amps for the time and ended up ordering a used Mark III+ DRGX off ebay after hearing some clips on youtube.

If I buy any gear now it's till death or for decades for the most part.

I currently own 6 amps and I can't rank a top 3. Theyre all my favorite. The 6 i own are as follows

Wizard Hell Razor KT150
Wizard MCII E34L 100 Watt
Mesa Boogie Mark 2C++ DRGX
Groundzero Sniper Mod 59HW Marshall
Headfirst Evil Joe
3rd Power Dragon

Ground Zero Modded Rev G Triple Rec
USA PRS Archon 100
Peavey 6505+

Honorable mentions:

Ground Zero Hellion V2 - if it were 2 channel it would be at the top

Bad Cat Lynx

This is a low gain clip. Just a PCM81 in the loop. No boosts. No post EQ. And no video editing to fake camera shakes 😑😂

Here’s crunch. No effects. Gains are a little past noon. Volume on 2. iPhone can’t give the top end clarity and still handle the massive floor shaking low end at the same time. In the room it’s crystal clear top end.

I almost purchased one new in 99-00.

The retailer didn't have one in stock. Had money burning a hole in my pocket.

Purchased my first Laney. GH100L, with matching 4 x 12. Paid 1350 with tax, out the door.

It won out against the 5150 at the time. Been a Laney guy ever since.

My buds Dual Rec was very special. Very loud. And had this nice bite and attack. Which most don't necessarily attribute to rectos. Not overly bassy...but he may have run an eq in the loop.
I've owned 3 GH50L's, and a GH100L. They're still in my top 5 favorite amps I've ever owned.

My Laney GH100S that I used to own was a great volume roller’s amp. It was a workhorse and took pedals great too. The effects loop wasn’t amazing but it’s better than most. For the money I’d recommend one over an Iconic anyday.

Sounds absolutely massive

"Best" is such a weird word and so day-to-day subjective. So, here are the three most IMPACTFUL amps I've had, in that after playing them at volume for the first time you're just completely blown away, taken aback & speechless about what just happened..?!?!

1- Mark IIB Coliseum
2- SLO 100
3- Triple Rec rev F/G
