in response to the other great thread.

Whitesnake - Self titled tour - this tour would probobly have been awesome if Sykes was on guitar. It was the "supergroup" lineup and couldnt have came off as more manufactured. They basically played the self titled stuff..a little slide it in.. And then Vandy, Viv, Aldrige and Sarzo all had to be spotlighted with "ego" solos...80's excess at it's worst...

to make the night suck even more Great White opened up..another bland , forgettable band...

Ratt ( dancing undercover) and Poison - actually Poison was touring for there first disk and blew Ratt off the stage..even though I dont like poison, they were young and hungry and put on a great show....

Ratt came out and just sucked - I saw them on there two previous tours and while never a great live band , they really went to shit around this time.. Pearcy was drunk and high , stumbling all over the stage, Croucier was looking as retarded as ever and you could tell the band wanted to get done with the half full arena crowd and go back to there hotel rooms to party... It didnt help that the disc was dud and people were losing interest.. By the time the encore came up more the crowd was seriously bailing and you could walk right up to the stage.

Aerosmith - Done With Mirrors - Band arguing on stage, Tyler falling over, million mistakes during songs, Tyler was so gone he sang a few songs lying on his back...The Nuge opened and thoroughly handed them there asses... Aerosmith came back a year or two later all sobered up and they kicked ass!

Nothing is relevent for Aerosmith past 1979 anyways   Unless you like muzac Smith

I was a huge RATT fan and I have seen them on tour every year they cam to NY and I must admit that they sucked live almost every time. I actually hated Bon Jovi and I watched Bon Jovi mop the floor with RATT and Jovi was the opening act. Jovi came out to a crowd that was boo'ing them and won the crowd over. They had eveyone standing up by mid gig. Ratt came on and put eveyone to sleep.
Warrens playing made up for it though!! :D

for sure..but at the time I could deal with Permanent Vacation and Pump...

saw that one too..I remember "mama's boys" were the third band on the bill..they had a violinist! cutting edge for back then :D

I agree Ratt were always a live snoozefezt even in there prime... I saw them open for 38 special on the Out of the cellar tour and that was probobly there best..even though 38 special wiped the floor with them

Was that around '86 Ralph? I saw Bon Jovi open for Ratt that year and thought Jovi was more polished overall, but I loved watching Warren play and that's all I payed attention to when they came on

I think so!!! Jovi really took a beating in the beginning and I watched him turn the crowd around. Not many guys can do that!

Same here! RATT was not good as a band but Warren just killed and I always managed to sit right in front of him !! His tone was better comming off of the stage then miked up!! :D

Frehley's Comet..............bar none the WORST large arena show I had ever witnessed. They opened for Iron Maiden during the 7th Son tour.........just god awful bad.

SOMEWHERRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE IN THE NIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh BTW...... RATT was amazing in 84 and 85.. They blew chunks live from 86 on IMHO.

I would be willing to bet that Vinny Vincent was worse!!

Ratt - any show with Stephen Pearcy (sp?). He can't sing and the drummer blows. Warren D was the only thing that made Ratt tolerable.

Def Leppard - pre lip syncing shows. Saw them on the High and Dry and Pyromania tours, they were out of tune all of the time.

Monsters of Rock - only because I saw this at the Pontiac Silverdome, the worst concert venue on earth.

He came through several times and we knew better not to go

ACDC in 86. Went to see Yngwie open up and had car troubles. We walked in 5 minutes after Yngwie finished and had to sit through the most boring headlining show in history.

Ratt was far and away the worst group I have ever seen. They were absolutely terrible. That was spring of '85. I think the lineup was Krokus, WASP and Ratt if I remember correctly.

Not the worst concert but the worst acts during a multi bill concert. I saw the Phillidelphia Mummers, Gary Wright("Dream Weaver" fame,) and Peter Frampton open up for YES. YES was fantastic, as usual, the rest sucked!!!

I also saw Donavan(sucked) open up for YES...what the hell were the promoters smoking when they put that concert together.

Again, with the vintage stuff  Speaking of Yes, I just saw the original members of ASIA last week in Chicago, Steve Howe sounded incredible. They did Roundabout, had a very vintage vibe going on there that night with all the 60's psychodelic backgrounds.

Steve Howe used to be one of my favorite players. I liked a lot of stuff he did with YES. The stuff he did on Relayer was amazing.

Yeah it was a Ratt show that was the worst ever for me too. It was 1985 at the Omni in Georgia, get this - Billy Squire w/Ratt!! The absolute worst fucking show ever.
Blah!!

no one rocked like krokus...

no one.

what was with all the old hairy yonkers frontmen of that era, wearing trapeze outfits?
could you image the fistfuls of back hair you could collect from that dude's shower drain?

what's worse is most of these mummies sold platinum records and turned their fortunes into piles of peruvian hurdle dust

I saw VV open for Alice Cooper....they were awful but funny. Most every one hated them...During Vinnie's big gtr solo somone hit him in the head with a big empty beer cup (the BIG ones). Another tune the Vinnie started the singer was standing on the gtr cable while Vinnie took off for teh other side of the stage...pop goes the gtr cable and no gtr!  The bass player broke a string while humping his bass and for the grand finale.......the singer climbed up the pyramid of pink Laney cabs and sang a few lines, jumped off and brought the top few cabs down with him....  It was actually pretty funny.

Easily Ratt I can't remember which tour. IIRC Pearcy had prerecorded background vocals and the band was out of sync with the vocal and Pearcy was out of key with the backing track.

LMAO!!!!!!!

Sounds like they were just missing the dude running across the stage on fire just like the vid
