Are you able to divulge the settings on the module? Is your sound boosted? I'm assuming not. I'd be very interested to see where the gain and mids are set. It sounds great, and that is most definately a core metal tone that I could use. Just the right amount low-end and a beautiful CHUG on those palm mutes. If that module were available for sale right now I would hand over my dough immediately without futher consideration.
It's kind of always bugged me that I have to get my core metal tones out of modded Randall modules (still usually boosted), or stock modules with a boost. The birth of the EG5 changed that a bit but as a high-gain metal sound there is still something missing from that module for me. So far, the best metal rythym tones I have gotten from the modular series are from a boosted KH2. It's open sounding and has a great thrashy bottom end. I've yet to try the SL2X so no comment there.

Jeff, good job! I LOVE that you are addressing the higher gain needs. This one is a real big "thumbs up" from me. When you are ready to release it, I want one!

Ok big question! Will it be ready when the E2 comes out? Or vice versa.
How does it clean up? I also would like to hear it through a power amp and not the axe-fx alone without backing tracks.
This (if it actually sounds true to the recording and not colored by the axe fx) and the SLX sounds like a good addition.

Sounds like a Mesa amp to me. I think it's a Mark IV.

Since that is the B ch .on the Mystery mod and you have not done the A yet.
This is something I have always wondered .
Can an A channel have no gain or very little compared to the monster gain on B.
For instance could you make the A ch a MrkIV/Lonestar type clean tone and the B have the Brutal hi gain,
is this ever possible it seems like it may be as the VX mod will go pretty clean and gets very hot on the b side .
I just think it would be cool to have one mod that could do both

No they really need seperate eq in order to do that. Both channels share the circuit so if you want gain you have to start with gain.
Cant have clean and dirty in the module.

Well, if it's both channels dirty, is it possible to dial in one for mid-scoop and one for mid-heavy? The Petrucci thing is to have two amps with different settings for dirty rhythm/lead, so if you could try to tweak the EQ to be able to get both those sounds that'd be pretty awesome I think.

These days I believe the more gain you use, the more you lose the natural tone of the guitar and things get lost....not as articulate as say a Plexi or good JCM 800........but every now and then i like the high gain monster and this sounds sweet. Now I need an SL and this thing.
What power tubes did you use?
