Number 1:
Aaaaaaaah got my new Tourmaster 4212 from GC today, brought it home played the sweetness of all 4 channels started dialing up my sound for next week. Went great for 45 minutes or so and tada........OD2 channel took a crap. It sounds very very tiiiinneeeee and much much less volume than the other 3 channels. Also if I turn down the treble on that channel it shuts the volume all the way off kinda acting like its a volume control now. No bottom end on that channel at all.
All other channels still seem normal though. Did I loose tube or is it a cap maybe or shorted pot????? Anyone??? Bueller??
Got rid of my VHT Deliverance Sixty and THD for this baby so please make it painless  :aww:

Number 2:
the power grid seems backwards to me as well. I would think that "full" would have the line to 100 watts and "half" would have the 10 watts...No engineer here, but  (Hmmmm, bet someone has pointed this out don't mean to bring up if so)

Number 3:
Gotta say this sorry but true.
GC is the worst representation for you Bruce as well: I got a BRAND NEW clearance 4212 without:
NO casters (GC said uuuuh it doesn't come with any) , NO jewel lens on the lamp (still need one white light is like a spot, GC said uuuuuh Sam Aash may have one), NO cable for the foot switch (called awesome Nate I am getting one shipped), NO manual (downloaded it no problem), NO warranty card (I already registered it online) and then a schpeel about what a discontinued pos I was buying and "hey look over here at my Boutique amp I play". Rockstars all the work at GC. I have opened for Charlie Daniels to to 38 Special and I ain't nothin special lol!!!

Please help a new Eggy user. I sold all of my mates on this new dream machine and they expect me to drag in my awesome tone this week. :D

It is probably just tube IMO. I would replace them all if you can, or try swapping some to identify which one it is if you can't.

I don't think your grid is backwards. The combo is in essence flipped upside down from the head version, but that is not reflected in the manual.

Sounds like you dealth with some idiots that didn't know what they were talking about. Frankly, I would go to the manager and get them to exchange for a NEW IN A BOX new one. You obviously got someone's return or something. GC does that all the time and calls it "new."

problem #1 is the pre-amp tube associated with OD2 channel. problem #2 is a misprint that should've never made it past QC. Problem #3 is all too typical of GC. What you have is, most likely, a returned "second" which was a floor model that had been stripped of some parts by the customer. I would never buy a clearance item from GC. The regular retail price for these amps is a steal as it is. Spring for a new one (from a different Dealer) or FORCE GC to exchange for a new (untouched) one.

Yep idiots but the only amp available soooo. Which type of tube do ya think power or pre? Then which one out the bunch might only affect the OD2?
Yep I realize the flipped over chassis but look at the grid closer: The "Half" line points to 20/50/100 and the "Full" line points to 10/25/50

Can I just take out the preamp tube say from the effects loop and hop it down the line until I find the bad tube say most likely V2,V3 or V4?

or the reverb-tube, that's what I would do for now. Just don't swap the phase inverter (PI) V8 tube. Given what your amp has been through, there's a good chance that a few could be bad, or become bad soon. I would do as Len suggested and replace all of the tubes right away. example: http://thetubestore.com/sba-egnater-tourmaster.html

ok I have started moving the contour tubes from a couple of holes and no luck so far still same sound on OD2 ch.
But I guess I dont get why all other channels sound great no matter what tube I switch the only channel sounding bad is od2???

No, but......V2 and V4 should be suspect, not the "contour" V5

Ian Egnater hangs around here sometimes, or Bruce, maybe they can chime in on specifics?

Nob I know its not the contour tube just using it as my moving around tube

take it back to GC and DEMAND a new amp bro. no way you should be putting up with THAT kind of service.

seriously, what a story!

Wish I could but it's the only one and workin with Nate for a solution so.....Just was looking for some thoughts over the weekend tried all the tubes but nothing fixed OD2 :aww:

If you're already talking to Nate, he should be able to help you with everything. But that's completely unacceptable in my eyes to have to deal with that as well. Could you send me an e-mail to ian@egnater.com with just a quick recap of the issues the amp had on the floor, and what store you purchased it from? I don't want us being represented like that out in the world, and I'd love to give them a call about this.

Do what Ian asks and hold them accountable! It doesn't matter that the particular store doesn't have one. Somewhere in the US or Canada they can find a better one than that and get it to you!

Chassi is headed to Nate. I will email Ian with all info. Nate is the man when it comes to customer service. Just hated to have to get a new amp and have to send it away. But with Egnaters customer service I will end up better than what both GC's I visited consider "new"!
Thanks for all the support here and Ian you will get an email shortly. All this drama still won't keep from using a great Egnater 4212! AWESOME

yeah, i gotta get my power transformer pulled and sent...providing it's the issue at hand!

good luck with yours, it's a great amp...i love mine. and miss it immensely.
