I want to extend this information to Egnater users and anyone thinking of getting an Egnater product.
As you can see by th previous post what my experience started like. But I am please to tell you. This how it ended.
I shipped the chassis to Nate and he did the repairs and transformer update as well as any upgrades out for the 4212. He didn't stop there I got it back with a new foot switch cable, new jewel, new casters, new handel covers that were missing from GC, and amazed at a complete new set of Tungsol's!! Some of the, if not the best service I have recieved bar none for any company!!! You guys are amazing. Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you.
Lettin the new baby sing it's awesome and I am the new envy around SWFL for tones...for the time being lol :D ;)

Much as I love my new Renegade, I sometimes miss my Tourmaster! They always took care of me. Not impossible that another T could be in my future sometime...

that;'s awesome news.

this weekend i'm finishing pulling out my power plant and goin to send it in as per nate.

i REALLY miss the sound of tubes lighting up the night.

Hi everyone ... I saw this thread late .... Just to add and so Ian is also aware ..... I also bought a clearance from the West Palm Beach GC store. No casters, no footswitch (I really needed the footswitch). They couldn't even order one for me without charging me full price for it when maybe they could have offered a discount on the footswitch. :-( Not even at least a 30 day warranty. Transformer took a dive within the first month of play. :-( Thank goodness, although I live in SW Miami, Fl. There is a shop now in WPB that is an authorized repair location for Egnater. Talked to Nate and Took it to them and got the transformer replaced under warranty (thanks Nate!)

Sixtycycle - seems like I have encountered a very similar issue. CH4 might be full for a minute or two, actually less, and then volume and gain drop off significantly (gets "tinny", I think you said). Also some scratchiness as it goes down, wondering about a short or similar issue. I also believe that CH3 has lost something too, CH1 and 2 are so much more alive and punchy. Had to adjust CH3 to keep up. I will periodically take a quick phone shot of my settings, in case I need a quick reference. I can see that I have to crank more gain and channel volume on CH3 to keep up with CH1&2, and again it has lost something. Forget about CH4, unusable.

Of course this happened during last weekend's gig. Got by with CH3 for the evening.

Has any one else had similar issues?

Sixtcyle, you noted several issues - all apparently fixed. But it seems like the topic started to focus on the GC BS and I am curious as to the source of your CH4 issue.

You said "I shipped the chassis to Nate and he did the repairs and transformer update as well as any upgrades out for the 4212. I take that to say that something needed repair, beside the (possible) tube and aux parts issues. Did it just go behind the curtain and come out working? Any definitive diagnosis?

For the go-to "Tubes" problem, here is a pre-emptive answer: rolled them all, using a tube that is working well in another amp. None of the tubes are the ones initially supplied any way, changed them all shortly after getting the amp. Tried another tube or two, just in case my chosen roll tube was not up to snuff. No go.

Nate, if you read this and have come to conclusion that I should get it ready to send it in, please chime in so we can coordinate.

Gigs coming up, don't relish using only CH1&2 with a pedal or making due by miking my small practice amp. But whatever needs to be done...

Thanks in advance for any help, you know how it is when this stuff happens...just want it to be like it was!

small update -

second guessing myself, thinking that I had better be sure

changed v-1 thru v-5 all at once with spare tubes, in the chance that rolling the tubes missed 2 bad ones.

No change, CH4 is still not doing its thing

Also, I think that I should back off my CH3 description in the last post - might be more subjective than I am giving credit. It may well be functioning well and I am just borrowing trouble. It is acceptable, although I did not turn up to stage volume this morning. No doubt of CH4, though, hardly any volume and it reminds me of a weak not-quite-totally clean channel.

Time will tell, in the meantime - wondering if any one else has experienced this issue and what the solution would have been in their case.

thanks!

TC DOM ... Had similar issues with my TM4212. channel 1 was completely wimply without power/volume .... Channel 4 started exhibiting the same thing. Had that fixed as well when they changed the Transformer out (I think). The reason why I say "I think", is because I still have these issues, just not as severe and sometimes I queston it off as just maybe something I tweaked wrong. The gain, response, sustain and volume in a given channel seems to fluctuate but not completely go. I contacted Egnater to have it shipped to them instead of going back to the repair shop to get to the root of the problem without queston once and for all. I was suggested to re-seat and check the tubes. I did as advised and I'm still checking it out on a gig to gig basis. I'm not convinced it is gone. I remember the tech at the warranty shop telling me that the PCB in that is in charge of channel switching had some type of short in it which contributed to the loss of channel volume/Gain for channel 1. I took it back to them 2 days later when I noticed after the repair, channel 4 had a problem now with the treble control not controlling treble but actually controlling channel volume. He fixed that and told me again the problem was something else he had to fix on the PCB that is in charge of performing the channel switching function. Maybe this PCB is something to have looked at in your case as it seems to play an important role in the functionality of each channel and not just switching the channel?
Hope this helps and hope someone that may have more knowledge can add their 2 cents in?

Thanks for chiming in, Alienrocker. I think that this one is bound for service. Still under warranty, thank goodness.

I got on the Egnater website and tried to fill in the needed form, as in:

"To initiate a customer service request with Egnater Amplification you must fill out this customer service request form below."

Not sure that it worked, after filling everything out and hitting "submit" I get this message:

"The website cannot display the page"
HTTP 500
Most likely causes:
•The website is under maintenance.
•The website has a programming error.
"This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying."

Maybe it went through but cannot display that fact?

We'll see, I guess. Hope that they contact me soon.

private message ian or bruce here.... ian usually gets right back to you...bruce is a busy man.

or, just call customer service and ask to talk to nate.

A reasonable suggestion, Yeti. It is appreciated.

Maybe the message did get through, will try again tommorrow to fill out that form and then perhaps follow up with a PM as suggested regardless of result.

Wouldn't be the first and only place to have a server issue, might as well give it a day. Maybe they will have the server up and running and suddenly four of my messages will come through. And...maybe not.

Just call Nate and if anything, He'll give you his email address for further contact.

that's what id do, as i said above...no sense waiting around...the sooner the better, as, they're pretty busy at times!

Alienrocker & Yeti - thanks for looking out for me. I did resubmit the form tonight, and apparently it went through without issue this time.

I think that I may PM Nate and/or Ian as previously suggested.

I will try to keep everyone updated, hope to eventually provide one of those "bummer situation but ended up getting great service" messages.

Frankly, just back from band practice..err, rehearsal, and I could be in a better mood. But sh*t happens.

well
i took my TM to band practice tonight. this amp CUTS like a knife right through the band mix. the other guitarist is using some effects pedals through a marshall mode IV, which sounds pretty good. he runs a more scooped sound and that amp is perfect for that.

the TM sits on top of him and the drums really nicely. i was surpised how quiet the TM is too, though i do have a microphonic preamp tube, that's easily remedied. i had this amp up louder than i ever have too, but i wanna eliminate that noisy tube for sure. other than that, it was a good night for me and the TM!

i ran straight into the amp with my chorus in the loop, but ended up not using it after we did the one song that needed it and just used the loop for the boost i usually use it for.

Gotta say this sorry but true.
GC is the worst representation for you Bruce as well: I got a BRAND NEW clearance 4212 without:
NO casters (GC said uuuuh it doesn't come with any) , NO jewel lens on the lamp (still need one white light is like a spot, GC said uuuuuh Sam Aash may have one), NO cable for the foot switch (called awesome Nate I am getting one shipped), NO manual (downloaded it no problem), NO warranty card (I already registered it online) and then a schpeel about what a discontinued pos I was buying and "hey look over here at my Boutique amp I play". Rockstars all the work at GC. I have opened for Charlie Daniels to to 38 Special and I ain't nothin special lol!!!

Amen to the GC comment. I couldn't believe how shabby they represent the equipment. When I got my Tweaker 40 half stack I had to ask for a speaker cable (got one of the demo cables), I had to ask for a foot switch (give me one for a Rebel) and there were no manuals or paperwork of any kind. All should have been included without me having to beg for them. Not to mention the equipment being dusty but getting dirty equipment from the GC is the norm.

Hey guys sorry for the drop out been away for awhile.... Mom passed...

I have to say Nate took great care of me through it all. All issues fixed and then shortly after back playing Reverb Tranny went. I sent mine in he sent me one back although that took waaaay to long. Now for my next bad news. I have 2 4212's one for the road and one for the rehearsal and studio. number two blew a fuse last night so I changed the fuse removed the power tubes and clicked it back on....zzzzzrrrrrpppp and the fuse blew again almost immeadiatley. So looks like I will be calling Nate today for a new power tranny how frustrating with these things nice amp but all of the things people beat them up about has been experienced by me so can't blame the bad press. Just hope I get my Tranny covered so at least I can wave the flag for the service I get from them  ...the down time suuuuuucks!!!

aww man. im really REALLY sorry to hear the news about your mom. you have my deepest sympathy. i hope you and your family are well.

that sucks about your amp. i replaced my tranny in mine. and right before that quit working the reverb crapped out. i replaced the reverb tranny on my own too....and now the new one has shit the bed. i emailed nate, and got a curt response back about taking it to a tech, that he's never seen this type of reverb tranny quit working once, let alone 2x in less than 6 months. i call bs. and, im not payin an amp tech for this.

Hi Sixty ... Just logged in and saw this last post. Just wanna express my condolences RE: your mom. :-(

Thanks to both of you for your condolences. It helps to know people care.... ;)

Amps are cool and all but, my condolences on your loss. Family is where it's at.

I used to have a Tourmaster head (early one) which I loved the sound of but the power transformer went on it. Egnater did the right thing and repaired it, I just paid shipping (slightly out of the warranty period). Sold it to a friend and it seems to be going strong. Hopefully yours will be fixed and stay that way.
