I just sold a Washburn N4, it was a great shred guitar. Didn't have the OFR, but the one on there was still good. The best upper fret access on any guitar I have seen. If I could actually play shred and Iiked floating Floyds I might have kept it. :aww:

The Washy was another one i was looking at actually.. That stevens cutaway looks amazing to shred on! I cant imagine being able to get any better fret access than that..

Got any pics of the one you had?

I'll say Caparison, cuz i rarely get to post a pic of mine :)

Cool guitar man!

I think as far as Caparison's go.. the one that i like the look and spec of most is the Dellinger II.

The stevens extended cutaway is the the only bolt on variation Ive seen that actually delivers what it promises with upper fret access. I think the joint helps tone as well.

Man that thing looks amazing!! I really like that one a LOT more than the normal oil finished wood N4's.

Is the price you just sold that for, the going rate for N4's in the used market?

I got 900 for it. I saw a white one on ebay go for $800 recently so, I think thats about fair market value. The paduaks seem to be worth the most but Id rather have my old one or one of the solid finished ones over that body wood. Ive never seen another mahogany with maple top like that one before. It was sweet, I restrung it and set it up before it left and it rocked my world lol.

Yeah i think i like the solid finish models over the padauk models. I saw a custom shop N4 with a white body on ebay which looks killer! Damn.. now i guess its between the ESP M-II and the Washburn N4. They both have the features that i like, and the N4 has that cool neck joint which gives even better upper fret access..

CARVIN!!!!!!!

And my personal favorite with SUPER upper fret access, the DC127C

The quality is at least as good or better on those washburn custom shops compared to ESP. The neck joint on the washburn puts it ahead IMO. Its got the best fret access possible and I think it helps the tone a bit. You might want to replace the lawrence bridge pickup but besides that I think the N4 is a hands down cooler guitar than the MII. I already sold mine so there is no reason for me to talk it up! Just telling you like it is. ;)

You know, chances are i would swap both pickups out for a Suhr SSH+ and a Suhr SSV in the neck. Im a big fan of John Suhrs pickups so it would only make sense for me to put them in the guitar, i have them in my GMW.

I like the look of the N4 Custom shop models in the solid colour finishes.. the wood look is cool but id love a white one or a solid colour finish at least.

The Custom shop N4's on ebay, new are ranging from $1200-1500. At a push, i could probably spend that.. Im really interested in that neck joint. It looks amazing!

I'd go with an Ibeenhad Prestige personally.

Ya know Tommy i was going to get a prestige RG a while back but i realised that i just dont gel all that well with Ibanez's. Theyre awesome guitars and have great features and playability, but they just dont fit that well in my hands i guess. Also i wasnt ever a big fan of the Edge trems compared to the OFR or Schaller. theres a slight feel difference between the OFR/Schaller and the Edge, and the OFR just works better for me..

I was always a Jackson player rather than an Ibanez player if you get me?

OMG BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!
  I get you man. I actually prefer the OFR when it comes to certain aspects. I don't get along with Jackson guitars, so I know what you mean.

Yeah man, some people just instantly gel with Ibanez's. I have had 2 RG's and have tried countless others but they just never felt right for me. Maybe in years to come, i may end up with a good Ibanez but for me right now.. theres other things that suit me better!

The thing that makes me like the OFR more, is it has a different ation and feel to it. And because i always used the OFR since i started using floyd equipped guitars.. trying to use the Edge just never worked as well because i wasnt used to it!

Build your own axe with parts from Warmoth:

http://www.warmoth.com

That was something i considered a while back, but to be honest i built guitars from parts before and some were great and some were just firewood.

It seems that Custom shops and USA built guitars these days are a bit more consistent, depending on which company it is.. and also if i want to sell the guitar if i dont like it, i dont want to take a bit hit on the resale value..

I swear by my M-II, I just freakin love this guitar. heres some pics for GAS. Ive played Ibanez, Fender, Carvin, Washburn, Gibson, Schecter, Dean, B.C. Rich etc. Jacksons and ESPs are the guitars I keep going back to.

the only decision you need to make now is if you want bolt or NT!. It is hands down one of the best necks I have ever placed my hands on. The smooth maple neck, easy fret access, great electronics, great craftsmanship, etc. Thing just plays like a dream. Its a bar none rocker. As far as the neck profile compared to a KH, I have no idea. The only KH I have ever played was a ltd and I dont know if they are the same as their ESP counterparts. Trust me man, get the M-II over the Washburn, just my opinion. Good hunting

Schecter? reasonable prices and awesome guitars. my Hellraiser kicks major ass...recessed OFR, set neck, awesome upper fret access

and Jackson Dinkys are rather nice as well
