Bogners are like SLO’s, highly regarded but yet I’ve never known what albums they are on exclusively nor have I ever even really seen a full bogner live rig :dunno:
Well SLO is on several Ratt albums and also later Van Hagar stuff. I’d recommend watching the Mike Soldano Tonetalk episodes for some really cool stories about where the amps have been used: live and studio albums!

One of the first one was sold to Whitford backstage and used for a live show the same night. Mike tells an awesome story about that being like his first week in LA on one of the Tonetalk episodes!

Sounds good to me but I think I'll stick with my Mark VII. This amp does interest me though! FWIW I've never played a Bogner before. What flavor of amps does Bogner tend to favor?

If you rate your amps on 'how many records' they've been on, then all you need is an old 60s Fender, and a vintage Marshall. Because they're on the most albums of all time. Or, a 5150....better than anything for metal. Which of course, it's not.

There's other ways to judge amps other than clips, which for the most part usually suck...or how many records an amp was used on....that's kinda contingent on what amps the studio owns? Or, maybe the player can't afford anything super special since it's his first record. And, of course then there's the 'contract' thing the artist signs and has to at least appear to use the endorsed product....

I'd rather trust guys on forums who've actually owned certain amps, and like similar tones to give a good/bad review of any amp. IMO that's been the most honest way of making an informed decision on an amp you've never heard in person before.

I could never make the Uber work for me...It hated my playing.

Marshall. But if you love Marshall, you won’t like a Bogner…lol
Unless the Bogner is loaded with MM iron from the mid 90’s like the one for sale in the classifieds. My Bogner’s blue channel when boosted shits all over 5150’s and SLOs. It’s a total Jackyl and Hyde.

You forgot the most CRITICAL piece of the puzzle.
The speakers.
THAT!!
Is what our ears equalize to by nature.
How in the fuck do you hear the amplifier?
Your imagination?
Well then your answer makes sense.

If I seem a dark humored it’s likely due to
watching the movie “Arizona” recently.
NOT to be confused with the legendary movie
“Raising Arizona”…LEONARD SMALLS., btw.

Absolutely....different speakers are game changers with every amp...having an extensive speaker collection is a must Imo. Or, at least trying out as many different types as you can.
I have one cab, where I finally pulled the JBL D120s out of a mid 70s Twin and loaded them in with a pair of the RR speakers, the Altec 417s.
This cab, actually changes the FEEL of any amp I use through it. That's a first for me.

Vai was using primarly using Bogner’s in the 90’s, he used a few other heads (Marshall and Egnater) as backups and slaves, but for the most part, his live tone was all Bogner. The ‘96 G3 vid is all Bogner, unless it happened to break down that night and he used the Egnater. Best Vai-tone era, IMO.

Didn't Jerry AIC Use one for his last few albums?

I thought Jerry used Shiva's/Ubers on Black Gives Way to Blue, before he ended up switching to his Friedmans.

i dont know how you can truly trust ones opinion if you havent heard them play :dunno: i dont think these pro youtubers and a few guys here clips suck. i cant trust forum guys who would never say a bad thing about an amp as long as they own it, when was the last time you saw a new amp day that was anything other than the new best amp only to see a month later how the dude couldnt get rid of it fast enough before you even knew he sold it? all im saying is i couldnt tell you right now where to hear a XTC or Uber despite their rep in the guitar world

Toto , Vai and AIC were Bogner. Ive seen Alkaline trio touring with Bogner. Justin Derrico with Pink (believe it or not) was all Bogner. People like what they like. Like RacerX said, by a previous argument if it was record use alone, we would all be playing old Fenders, Marshalls and if a metal guy, rectifiers and 5150's. There would be no Cameron and Hermannson amp discussions which also seem to have even more hype than SLO and Wizards (both of which I own and enjoy).

Rafael Moreira gets some pretty nasty tones from a regular Shiva, that’s his main amp for all the Magnetico albums, he also uses and Uber and a Helios. Check out the play through video he did on Bogners YouTube page, he gets some screaming lead and chunky metal tones from his Shiva. Cantrells Degredation Trip was mostly a Shiva mixed with his modded Fish. I could nail that albums tone with my 20th Shiva, modded Fish, or even my Uber Rev2. Most of the higher gain Bogner amps all have a similar tone/feel with the exception being the Helios, that’s more raw and Marshall like.

This sounds better than any Uberschall I've ever played. The metamorphosis knob does a lot to the tone from what it sounds like. I loved the Rev Blue with a boost, but it was a completely unusable, flubby mess for me without it. Looks like this is easily tamed on the Ultra and those crunch sounds were killer, too. Not sure what other guys were hearing on the video, cause it sounds badass to me. Wasn't at all interested before, but this video has sold me on it, will definitely be looking for one once they inevitably hit the used market shortly after release

Terrible sounding amp. Can’t distinguish one chord from another. All scritch and white noise.
He does good vids as is this one…good vid of a terrible amp.
Did a benefit gig last weekend with a backline, I got to use an Über. I don’t ever need to play through an Über again and I do love Bogner amps of most all flavors

My favorite of his too.
