Ok…unstuck. Hopefully we’ll have a ds-1 thread to replace it with.

I honestly don't think it would do much for the circuit ... and changing diodes will change the sound of the pedal ... but I don't think in a great way .... there's a reason why you don't see to many changes offered with this circuit from any builder .... cause it sounds great .... when you upgrade the components ... you're increasing the fidelity and lowering the noise floor ... so it's the same circuit but man does it sound soooooo much better .
If you do try to experiment on either mod, would be interested to know the results. I know they’re are more differences between the tubescreamer and the sd1 than just the clipping. I do need an sd1 in my life, so let me know when you are taking orders for the build.

I did finally get a chance to head to head the Chiron to the byoc silver pony. The Chiron has much more volume and gain on tap. On the silver pony I have the gain at 2 o’clock and the volume at 11 o’clock. On the Chiron, the volume is at 9 o’clock and the gain at 11 o’clock. The Chiron is thicker and at the same time more articulate. Really liking it and planning to put it on the gigging board.

the Fulltone FD-1 I think it is ... if I remember right ... is basically that ... a SD-1 with clipping options regarding style and type ... I think I can get boards for that . I already ran out of regular SD-1 boards ..... the guys gobbled what I had up already ... and not sure when I can get more .

Have an FD2 non mosfet and Anniversary Sd1. The FD gets really close, but is more refined, missing some of the clank cut. I prefer my Tim or Timmy because I can adjust the bass. I think an Sd1 with a bass knob would be killer.

I'd be down for an SD-1 - like the purple. If you have any extra or are making any more Chiron's I'd like one too!

#29 has landed!

Thanks Wayne!

I did a vid of mine and it sounds thicc as a bowl of oatmeal. level was maxed and gain about 3/4.....thru my stereo rig....she's a nasty bitch....

Have you ever played a Lawrence Petross Dutch?

Its a Timmy with a second footswitch for a higher gain "punch" section, which to my ear sounds like a klone without the clipping diodes, when the gain is lower

Don't get me wrong, I love the og Timmys, but the dutch seems to work very, VERY well in boost or gainy situations
