You will only be truly happy if you have both. :D

Then an Einstein or Schmidt for your summer house in the Hamptons.

And twins, man.... Gotta have the twins :D

I know this is an odd comment, but having a VH4 in the mix helps the sound of the band. For whatever reason it has a sound that ties things together and just helps the band sound full and professional. I wish I could put my finger on why exactly that was.

Not a odd comment at all.
I had alot of METAL amps....before the VH4...
we just talked about how well the VH4 comes thru on recordings VS the older "METAL" amps....
Its an INCREDIBLE INCREDIBLE amp!!!

I am not sure I understand all this back and forth. I solved this problem the easy way, I have one of each, Herbert and VH4S

As long as Peter doesn't have something new in the works, I am stylin' :D

You can't go wrong with either, don't sweat the choice, just grab one and enter Diezel heaven!!!

Hello Diezel owners and fans,

3) I know Diezel need to be cranked to get really Diezel tone but which one works better in lower levels?

Thanks in advance for your tips/comments...

Sami

Sami,

If you mean which works better at lower volumes... I would say the Herbert hands down...

The Herbert has all of the gain/distortion in the preamp section, that's why it has been called the Worlds biggest bedroom amp, where as the VH4 needs to be cranked more to get the best out of it.

I can literally play my Herbert @ speaking volumes and get just about the same overdriven sounds.

Hope this helps,

Roid RAGE

Never heard a Herbert in person.....but sure its BAD ASS!
My VH4S comes alive at about 2-3 wich is damn near gig level.
Super tone from this amp. I never tried to play it at bedroom volume though...... :D
but as everyone puts....
you cant go wrong with either.
2 months back....I would of purchased a Herbert new.
Today? VH4 all the way!!

(Still going to get a Herbert though!) ;)

Thanks guys! I think I will be leaning on the Herbert because of its features  But I'm sure that I'd also miss the VH4 and ch3 too :aww: That's a dilemma but you cannot get everything you want if you aren't a millionaire or lunatic ;) But I agree that in this case it will be a Win/Win situation anyway...

my herbert rules.it sounds like a mastered cd guitar sound. i honestly think it sounds like far beyound driven buy pantera in a box. i have 13 heads and its my favorite. the low end is the differnce between it an a vh4. both are cool, but metal comes too easy for herbert

Fucking hell!

Today bought a new detached house with 2 floors, so bedroom levels is no more a criterion  There will be a room, 1st floor, for studio and guitars so I can play any levels I want now!

Please updated succestion, please!

Thanks for your comments so far! This is just what I expected, both of them would be god like for sure. And I'm going to buy this amp as a new so It'll be even harder to decide

I must say that also concidered Mark V but I don't like all the issues MV5 owners have had with their babies. One thing is sure, I'll be a part of this Diezel family soon... :salute:

as a former mkv owner i have to make mention-- that amp slays bodies-- and this raises a big issue with buying new amps... not all amps are plug and play. when i first recieved my mkv i wanted to return it. it took me nearly 2 months to get it dialed to sound where i wanted it, but when i did it was glorious tone to say the least. i've seen alot of people get turned off from that amp, but its not bad at all -- the cleans on the thing are gorgeous-- and the lead tones put alot of the higher end amps ive played to shame. just takes alot of tweaking , some amps are like that.

That said, id take a diezel over it any day of the week. but heres a question, why isnt the einstein being considered? is it really that much less of an amp than the herbert/vh4? (im curious because im looking hard at getting an einstein myself)

Hi,

first... It's no question that MKV is surely great souding and incredible amp.

second... I have concidered Einstein too, no doubt that it is great amp! But I'm sure that if you give Diezel your little finger it takes your hand or whole man. And no time you want Vh4 or Herbert or both of them bad! So why don't go there right away?

My feelings exactly.
I wanted the Einstein......but KNEW that I would end up with a Herbert or VH4........
So I held off a little longer for one of them. The Einstein sounds Incredible though.

I've never played a VH4, but everything I've gathered from different threads like this is that channel 3 on the VH4 is very similar to the 2+ channel on the Herbert. Infact, I've also gathered that the Herbert 2+ is a more open less compressed version of the infamous CH3 on the VH4.

Start with this:

i have both the herbert and markv. i honestly could not choose between them.i have 13 heads and those 2 are in their own leage.

this thread got me curious, so ive been listening to a ton of recordings with both amps in them lately. i gotta say man, id advise the herbert for sure. check out a band called divinity, i found out about them through the Diezel clips page, the song on the page isnt the best, but if you look up their songs "modern prophecy" or "the diarist" the guitar tonez are ungodly wholesome in the mix.

SOMETIMES I LEAN TOWARDS ONE OR THE OTHER. THEY ARE SO DIFFERNT. TOGETHER IS BETTER

I was in the same boat, I had a real time picking between all 4 diezel amps currently available! I knew I was after a vh4 but kept thinking the Einstein was probably more my cup of tea sound wise however the interface wasn't ideal for me. So I went for amps at the opposite sides of the spectrum, the VH4 and the Schmidt. Never regretted it for a second. Looking forward to running them blended very soon

Hi guys,

there is pretty nice deal offered now. 2005/2006 mint condition VH4 for 1900 €. What do you think, should I take it ??
