VH4 or Herbert for my needs?

I am about a month into my VH4S. Mine is a 2001 model.
I am loving it more and more as time passes.
If I wasnt 'feeling' an amp.....it would of hit me by now.
But I am getting more into how versatile this amp is.
Sounds perfect for what we play.
I love it, my band loves it. Best amp I have owned. Period. And I have went thru a ton of them.

The idea that the Herbert is a better amp for metal than the VH4 is as far from the truth as possible.

One is juicy, the other is dry. None of them is more or less compressed than the other in my opinion only.

We play alot of metal.......
I have owned alot of "metal" amps...
Framus Cobra, Engl FIREBALL, Engl Savage 120, Splawn nitro, for example........
the VH4 can do any type of metal EASILY!
Actually my favorite is channel 4 with the gain about noon with a clean boost...
That......is METAL!

the vh-4 is so awesome because it represents the player the best. if your technique sucks, well then the overall sound will suck ,too.

I honestly don't understand when people say this... the VH-4 is the absolute most compressed amp I have ever heard... it most definitely DOES hide your mistakes... its too compressed not too... It's definitely an acquired taste so to speak, but for playing live the compression is a god send for me... but it most definitely 100% covers up your mistakes.... you obviously haven't played an SLO or an older Marshall, now THAT is unforgiving...

I have played all of those & the way I set up my amps they are all the same to me. Maybe if you rolled the gain down on your Diezels you'd change your mind.

My Diezel isnt any more Dynamic or compressed then the Cobra, Engls...etc.
But it sounds better! :D
Gain at noon is the way to go on these!!

So... I went to VH4 for now because of great deal :D I haven't tried my new toy yet but after few hours I have some opinion of it. I'll let you know...

Btw. What cab and speakers would you recommend with VH4?? Maybe Diezel front loaded cab with V30 or/and G12K100...

Thanks

Congfrabulations, my man.

Try and install, if you can, V30's and K100's in an X pattern. It's a really awesome balance of tight bass and biting upper frequencies.

Why would someone say a VH4 can't do metal? Pretty much any amp can do "metal" with the correct tweaking.

First touch with VH4... It's sick! There is so much power available and that tight palm muting rhythm/crunch tone is incredible  So fast attack and articulate...

It tested it with my friend's handmade 4x12 cab with V30's. And yes, it really needs to be cranked. I'm pretty sure that I'll get 2x12 cab with this powerful beast. Any succestions??
