FZRjunkie, I agree 100% with you about the Uber blue having more a recto vibe than a Marshall. I stated that opinion once on the Boogie Board and got my head bitten off. The Uber is, I guess, based on a hot rodded Marshall circuit, and therefore my "correct" answer was supposed to be that is was Marshally. Don't care if it has a Vox circuit, it still sounds more like a Recto to me. I guess it goes to show how different describe the same sound different ways.
I actually heard that the Uber is based off the Recto. The story I know is Bogner was amazed at how articulate the Rectos were with huge amounts of gain, and wanted to make his own version of it - hence the Uber. Don't know what those guys at the Boogie Board are talking about....

The Ecstasy, now that I could see being based off a hot rodded Marshall.

You may be, and probably are, right. The following is from a "Bogner Uberschall" thread in the Other Amps section of the Boogie Board from Feb 08:

"Reinhold Bogner worked on a lot of Mesa's, Fenders and Marshall in his time before developing his own brand. Bogners, more so Shiva's are more of the hot rodded Marshall ilk, just like the Stilletos on the mesa side. Rectos are chalk and cheese compared to the Uberschall, totally different amps. I have both and the ability to dial in similar tones to each other are basically impossible. If you mod your JCM 800 with extra gain stages (inc. another 12AX7 etc..), it can sound good but gets a bit much, not EQable enough, you loose that ability and basically gets messy. The Uber on the other hand has been constructed to stay focused and has heaps of useable gain. No need for any TS9's in front of this amp the get a great lead tone.."

The quote was from "Acidguitar", and thats where I based my post about hearing the Uber being based on a Marshall circuit. I guess my memory faded quite a bit, I thought I remembered hearing it from a better source than whoever Acidguitar is, but I was apparently wrong. My ears tell me its a lot closer to the Recto regardless of how the pcb is layed out.

BTW, MagicEight, have you heard anything about the Bogner Forum? I'm getting an error message saying the board has crashed. I may try to look up BrentSP through TGP (I think I've seen him there) and try to find out what's up with it.

Haven't heard anything either. I hope they get it back up soon though. If you hear something, definitely let me know.
