Thanks Smash. Brother truthfully I wasn't feeling like gigging tonight. Just wanted to leave to go help my FL family and the gig was tying up the last loose end before I roll. But seeing you show up there and getting to talk and hang out in person on break and after the show..... you really made my night. Time goes to fast I could've hung out and shot the breeze and had a couple more beers till late. Looks like I might be there again saturday next weekend They were short a band or something I guess. AWESOME to meet you man. Thanks for letting me into your world.
You’re gay for him now too
How do you know we aren't just both gay for you?

But for real we were discussing your blues chops. I know you can shred like a mofo, but how blue can you get?
Dude . My blues chops are the same as my shred . I do know how to switch on and off . I’ve done blues shows , big country shows . I even had a jazz blues things going that I totally muss doing . I’m not just a shredder at all . I’m good at mimicking anything . But ya I teach EVERYTHING . Doing a Celtic thing atm . I wanna make videos of all this stuff but I’m retarded with technology

I love all you guys a lot, every one of you, so it was really nice to meet Smash in person. We are actually both married to women and have kid sorry to disappoint you, lol

So what you're saying is you play the blues like it was your first love and all those other homo musics are something you aren't interested in outside of the paycheck?

My own style is basically blues based shred . I just add everything else and the kitchen sick in . I’m just a guitar player . But ya . I’ll make a video of me playing Robert Johnson

So you're like an Eric Gales type player? I was a big fan of Manuel Gales aka Little Jimmy King, Eric's brother. I'd like to hear your electric playing over a nice slow 12/8 blues after a double shot of Wild Turkey 101.

More like robbem ford mixed with modern shit . Blues is always there some where for me

Tbh, I feel your rendition of Feels Like Rain was better than Buddy Guy

That's a really nice compliment Smash but it's untrue. I caught Buddy in '97 at the Bayfront Blues Fest in Duluth MN. I almost had to fight a dude to stay at the front of the stage. He complained to security and security told him "nothin' I can do about it, ain't no reserved seats and THIS IS BUDDY GUY", lol. Scott Holt was the 2nd guitar, two 100 watt Plexi half stacks. Buddy had two tweed Bassmans, bassist had two Ampeg 8x10's with SVTs. Buddy walked out into the crowd using a cable, that was crazy and no one stepped on the cable. Anyways, sun was just setting on the horizon and he did that tune and totally killed it. His voice man, incredible.....that is my all time favorite concert moment. He OWNED that crowd.

Good stuff here. I had no idea you two were meeting up. Or was it last minute? How cool tho. Von - best of luck in Florida. If I get my truck fixed, I'll give you a call and meet you down there.

I had invited Smash to a show I was doing down south. He's north of me a good ways so it was too far. I picked up the HD gig and since it was in his area I messaged him and he said he was five minutes away. Kinda sorta spur of the moment. I'll be in FL by monday. I have a memorial service to attend on weds and then have to leave friday and make it back for a gig by Sat at 1:30. Wish I had more time but the me and the guys' I'm rolling with have work obligations so we gotta get back. First out of state "vacation" in almost a decade. Def looking forward to seeing my family. Not looking forward to the memorial of my friend. RIP

May he RIP and safe travels. My folks are still without power but otherwise OK.
Thanks brother. They are saying tuesday on the beaches for getting power. Looks like we will be crapping in hefty cinch sacks for a few days as the septic there is pretty much nonexistent. I might make it over your parent's direction cause my cousin has a house in largo/seminole area. She had some flood damage. I'll try and get some pics for you guys. Can I upload them from my phone straight to rig talk? Never tried.

Please do. There is a 'picture' icon in between the Smiley face icon and the Chain-link icon in the upper tray there called "Insert Image". You can also fire up an imgur.com account and let them host pics for you, which is what I do.

Best of luck bro

James Nichols style?
No. I kinda start of normally with all the kings licks and SRV then it can turn it jazzy blues like Scott Henderson .
Scott is a beast
I want to find the other notes people don’t use . But I also play what needed at any time . Say this . I knew I had to just play like angus period
Angus 77 but cleaner was what I felt

No, it was Gary Willis on bass.

The band "formed" (it was Scott's) in 1984 and made about 10 albums.

Henderson is a great player but it just sounds like a weird mix of SRV and someone like John Scofield or something. It's a bunch of stuff high caliber players would get together on tuesday night at a rehearsal space to jam on for their own kicks, not anything a normal person would want to hear.
