No shit. Isn't this the point of a forum about guitar gear and players? Nobody said I hold the answers to all things guitar, I am not sure where you came to the conclusion that I thought I did. You might need a dose of confidence if you tip toe around the things you believe. I don't and that is why I call it like I see it. We aren't even talking about anything important? I feel like Iverson here.... We talkin bout wah man, not global peace, we talkin bout wah!

It's a cool effect in moderation.

I've listened to a lot of live Metallica vids lately and Hammett is a much tighter player than he was 20 years ago. Must be the constant touring those guys have done since '08?? I think Metallica still bring it live. One of the best bands out there as far as "live acts" are concerned

I always have a wah on my board, yet I never actually use it.

like most effects, just don't over use it. The issue with wah is if you do not know how to use one effectively, avoid as it makes you sound worse. Most of the time when you think wah, you think of a master like Hendrix, Clapton, Schenker, thin-lizzy guys...

What I find amusing about Wylde is how for years he talked about how simple his approach is guitar plug amp, etc. Now he has all these crazy tone killers and noise in his path.

I have 2 wahs and have not plugged either of them in for at least a year ... I do like the sound though. I think its more I just don't generally like pedals of any kind between my guitar and the amp. Its why I run W/D rigs

I continue to think you are full of shit and express your opinions as facts. You surely do not hold any answers to all things guitar let me assure you.
I am very confident in my opinions thanks very much, but your "facts" as you espouse them are true douche baggery. They are your opinions, not fact or the way things are nothing more. You phrase things in absolutes which is why I am calling you out. The sooner you realize this the better. It would save us all from reading your opinions rendered as facts. I like Wah for what it matters, used in the right places it's a great effect. Tell Hendrix he used it too much...calling like I see it...

Wow, you are a compete joke. You do realize that right? A strong opinion on something means you are a douche. I am sure you have never had one of those on a guitar forum about a piece of gear have you. A regular model rig talk citizen you must be. Anyway this is nonsense, I am not going to go back and forth with you on this becaus it goes nowhere. I am glad you feel better about yourself now and got that off your chest. Maybe you will get some sleep tonight because putting me in my place just had to be done. First I picked on vai and now I picked on wah abuse?? How dare I do that! As for Hendrix, I love Hendrix. But rocking a wah back and forth does not Hendrix make. He also was a tremendous clean player when he played without effects. You will note that I didn't include him on the shit list of wah users for a reason. I speak in absolutes after all!!

OK I'm a complete joke, all I am doing is calling you out on your bull and absolutes like you're some kind of king authority on how it's done. if that makes me a joke..not sure where to go with that. And yes, same as your douche baggery on the Vai thread.

can you 2 get a room please. Pretty sure no ones to read your shit...pm each other FFS

I used the wah always. At the moment i started really working on my solos, technique etc. i took it out of my rig. Now it has been 5 years its collecting dust.
I still love it and find that it should be used for surtan parts, but also depending on the song etc.

Thanks for bringing it up, next weekend ill put it back in the chain. Totally forgot i had one haha.

Nothing i hate worse than a high gain shreddy solo with the wah rocking back and forth the whole time

No kidding, that's why I am letting him have the last word. Now that he's done, we can get back to the thread at hand. Sorry gents. As for what is worse Wylde chorus or Hammett Wah, I definitely have to go with the jarbled chorus.

I love me some wah when it's used properly! I keep one with me at every gig, but mostly use it for rhythm work.

Kirk Hammett has definitely overused the wah pedal IMO. He has played entire albums with it on every solo.

I like it on occasion but use it more for rhythm work. Leads... it just has to be right. Cantrell did it really well. I'm not a huge Slash fan, but he did too.

I always like John Frusciante's wah use throughout the '90's.

I heard that Kirk had wah pedals custom installed in place of the accelerator and brake pedals on all of his cars. He's also coming out with a line of footwear fitted with wah pedals for heels.

Some players use a wah pedal rocked forward to give leads a lot of cut. Not rocking back and forth, but still. It's kinda like using a high pass filter.
