Man I wished they sounded as good in person as they do on clips. I'd be all over it, I ain't proud. But I've owned each POD since the very beginning and none could come close to standing up to a good amp in person.

Sounds pretty dang good to me... Any patch info?

It ain't me, so I have no idea how he did that. Sounds as good as any other VHI tones I've heard though...

True, however, you have to admit as far as recorded sound goes that clip is way closer than anything else you've heard, real amp or otherwise...

Pretty much, yeah.

Its very good. It does have that solid stateish feel to the lower gain volume rolled down tones. The higher gain tones are very good though.

Its good sounding... But.... The top end sounds weird to me and the upper mids arent as thick sounding as they should me IMO.

Lead tone doesnt sound all that close to me either.. It also doesnt clean up with the guitar volume very well.

That said, it still sounds righteous.

Only listening through laptop speakers right now, but that sounds great man. I'll listen to it tomorrow on my main speakers and post again, but I have to say, it sounds great.

sounds very good. not EXACTLY the old Brown Sound IMO...while most people wouldnt notice, you can tell its missing a bit of the warmth of that old tone. still a solid tone and one i wouldnt mind coping

and personally...i LOVE my Pod XT Live. ive been running it through my Classic 120 lately, and crankin' out some cool riffs and getting a lot of nice tones out of it. i normally run it through my computer and jam while i surf, but it never does sound its best that way. through a cab pumping some volume though its good though. again not as warm as a cranked tube amp, even when going through a cranked tube power amp, but awesome tones nonetheless and lots of versatility...and most people probably wouldnt know its a Pod

That sounds damn good to me. Especialy for what it is. It blows my 2000$+ super lead out of the water

All of you guys saying you can tell it is digital... It sure is easy when someone tells you upfront that it is a PODXT, huh?... On the MetroAmp forum the guy who did this clip didn't tell what it was at first and those guys, who will change a resistor based on a single clip, were freaking out over this clip. The first "sounds digital" post didn't come until people knew what it was...

Just sayin'...

its hard to tell thats for sure...but when the lead tone comes in it DOES have that hard edged digital sound on the high end IMO. thats something thats pretty apparent in nearly every Pod clip imagineable...not easy to hear in a good mix, just like a fizzy tone, the fizz is masked with the cymbals going on, but that lead tone just jumps out on the clip.

do you have any details on the settings used by any chance?

Oh heck yes!!! I'm glad you posted it was a POD because it made it easier to show you guys how good my ears are. I heard the 0's and 1's, yes, I did. This is what I heard:

100010101 00010110011 1100101001 0100101010010101010 100100101 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 00001111010001010010101

Actually, I think I've got an extra 0 in that last phrase, but the rest is on the money.

Any idea what his signal chain was, was he using any other plug-ins besides built in FX on the pod? Sounds really good, and I agree if you hadn't told people right away that it was a pod the comments would've been different

I won't play 'guess the amp' anymore...it's too hard nowadays. But POD or no, I would say that it doesn't sound very good on the turned down parts. Then again, neither does the original recording, IMO...
