my first concert was Ratt with Warrant and Great White! 14 years old....bras flew past me to the stage as i stood on the rail in front of Crosby, who could only be described that night as a 6'4" transvestite with a guitar. Ears rang for 3 days. It was amazing.Geuss who saw Ratt in 1985 with wait for it,....Bon Jovi opening. Funny because BJ had not broke yet and became way bigger $ wise.
Show was killer and was at Irvine Meadows Ca did I mention 1985?? Ha! Power went out during the show -no cell phones or way to give us updates we sat and waited. Finally came back on and they rocked!!!
I had just graduated HS and had a license plate holder that said 'Ratt n roll'!!! Tons of babes there in 80's mini skirts and lotsa aquanet!VH had broken up and Lay it down was on the radio every hour. Ratt was on top of the world and never got back to that level of success after that.
Side note we drove down there for the show from Fresno and the 'Night stalker' serial killer was at large that entire summer in LA. Crazy looking back on it as we stayed at my buddies sister and brother's places in different parts of So Cal. 40 years later I'm watching the Neflix docu on Richard Ramerez -night stalker freak thinking man he could have broke into one of those places we stayed at on the road trip.![]()

YEP!!! Haven't been there in years, i need to catch a show there.Swiss Villa? Never got to see Ratt live in their heyday, one of my biggest regrets. I did get to see Warrant though at Swiss Villa back in the day.
I bet it's been 30+ years since I've been there. Didn't they just get that place back up and going? I just hope that Thunder Ridge doesn't kill them.YEP!!! Haven't been there in years, i need to catch a show there.
Same. Thunder Ridge is getting mega stars, Black Oak seems to be content getting second-tier acts, not sure if that's enough to keep the doors openI bet it's been 30+ years since I've been there. Didn't they just get that place back up and going? I just hope that Thunder Ridge doesn't kill them.
If you think about it, the next time you see Ricky, ask him about the time we went up there to see Def Leppard and how long it took to get out of the parking lot after it was all over. Thankfully, I'm proud to say that I'm not the same person I was back then.Same. Not possible. Maybe showmanship but Warren is soooooo much better than Sambora. and BJ songs are so radio oriented crap. Their only hit at the time was 'Runaway' nuff said........I saw that tour, and in New Haven, Bon Jovi actually surprisingly blew them off the stage performance wise. Warren & Robbin were on fire though.
Possible - i was there. I remember being disappointed & shocked. Not possible. Maybe showmanship but Warren is soooooo much better than Sambora. and BJ songs are so radio oriented crap. Their only hit at the time was 'Runaway' nuff said........
I wasn’t at that particular show but when I saw that double bill I also thought Ratt was a lot better. Bon Jovi was good but they just didn’t do much for me, But with that said I’ve seen Ratt on occasion in concert just fall flat on their face so it doesn’t surprise me somebody thought Bon Jovi was better. Not possible. Also too I could be wrong but from the tour dates Demartini is not at all the venues out of maybe 10 or 12 shows he is listed at 4 or 5I saw a pic of a stage shot from behind him and Pearcy and you can clearly see a Quad Cortex on the floor. I think he is using that (unless someone else is). I would imagine it is a much lighter lift for these guys to use devices like that nowadays. They probably do not care anymore live about bringing 4x12s and heads etc. They are there to make money on a gig - the regular crowd doesn;t notice or care. I am a nobody but even in my little cover band, there are times when I will decide to break out the Flyrig vs a real amp (especially if it may rain).
But yes, as guitar fans we want the guys to use all the cool old gear. I think he is still playing great and tasteful as ever. Always been one of my favs who I could never cop or play like. He had his own style ad I loved that about guys back then.
Oh God, please never use "Bruce Dickenson" and "Vince Neil" in the same sentence when it comes to vocals. I just saw Bruce and was phenomenal and I have never seen Motley Crue and won't go now because it is a sad display.Besides Warren, I don't get these guys. He could fucking sing way better than that, if he actually gave a fuck. Look at Steven Tyler, granted he's not what he once was. Same with Bruce Dickenson. DLR, Vince Neal, and a whole bunch of other ones need to actually go back and listen to what they sound like and either fix it or hang it the fuck up. Hear me Dave Mustaine?
