We need a device to run two heads into one cab

does it allow to run two amps at once through one cab though? i understand it allows for switching but you can't run two amps at one time from what i see in the description

VH4S
Peavey Classic 120/120 for 240W Mono

There are more I’m sure 👍

The VH4S cannot be run in bridged mono mode. From the manual:

However the Peavey 120/120 can run in bridged mono mode. Here's a gut shot:

(this is the biggest image I could find quickly)

Looks like there are 4 transformers in there. Presumably one is for power, two are for stereo L/R sides, and the last one is for mono mode, where selecting mono mode swaps the amp over to that last output transformer and all 8 power tubes are routed to it. I don't know for sure that's how it works but that's what I'd guess.

I stand corrected on the VH4S - I always thought it could be ran in mono. I guess not.

Regarding the classic, No there are two power transformers and two output transformers to correspond with each quartet of power tubes respectfully. Each channel is ran independently and the output transformers are connected in parallel in bridge mode. There’s a warning to adjust impedances on the back in mono mode and I think it defaults to channel A in mono. There’s a user manual somewhere that explains its operation.

To be fair, I'm just getting over a week long flu and don't feel as sharp as usual. Plus the recent absence of the @GearGasms dude is also throwing me off

dude it had to be something because you are sharper than a tack 99.999999% of the time...a slipup like this, especially with the username "the game"...ooof

i made this for you because i want you to get better sooner and i know @GearGasms wouldn't want anything else

Jesus Christ you're sick dude. That being said, I know what I'm doing tonight!

No one has made one because it would be a waste of time, and they would probably lose money on it.

That’s the biggest reason. Iron is not cheap and it would waste a lot of power.

I think this gives me an idea for a feature. I can design an preamp out only mode for heads that wouldn’t require a loadbox on the amp. Anyone wanting to run two heads at the same time could just select two outputs on any regular switcher into a poweramp of your choice.

If the goal is to capture poweramp dynamics in each of the stereo signals, it’s likely best a proper line out be designed for each amp and loadboxes be used on each head independently.

Bummer. The Fryette 2/90/2 not having a bridged mono mode is like the one single thing keeping it from being the be-all-end-all platonic ideal of a tube poweramp in my mind. I'd love to get some device that makes it possible to run it like that... if it wasn't prohibitively expensive and heavy.

Aside from that though it would be incredibly cool to have some box that allowed you to blend amps like Blake was asking about originally.

George Metropolous used to make the Metro Headmaster and I believe it allows the use of two amp heads into one cabinet. The unused amp is switched to a load when not in use is my understanding. And it is footswitchable.

I think he still makes these in limited runs.

Here you go Sweetwater has a used one.

He wants to blend 2 heads to one cab summed to mono. Like a studio blend, but live.

Pretty sure what he wants doesn't exist. Outside of the current multi step solutions used by rack system manufactures...that I have seen. Not an all in one.
